Question Tired & Thirsty?

I have been on SB for only 6 days, but I am extremely tired and extremely thirsty -- why is that? I guess tired from the the "withdrawal" but I am drinking about a quart and a half of water per day. I am down 3 pounds, and am doing this in France where almost no lite products exist... so you can imagine how hard this is.... I don't miss the bread/pasta/rice as much as I miss fruit (and oatmeal for breakfast!) WIll the thirst subside?

Default super-hydration

I think you are not drinking enough water. For people who are excercising or involved in sports, the old adage "eight 8 oz. glasses of water a day' is not enough, but this is also true for those who are dieting- especially high protien/ low carb lifestyles. Not getting enough water can add to your fatigue.

Have you heard of superhydration? Some traditional Docs have criticized this, just like they initially criticized low carb diets, but I think there is some merrit to it. I've started drinking almost twice the recommended amount and I feel so much better. My skin is looks better, too. I got a HUGE 64oz. mug and fill it with ice and water and take it to work. I try to drink it before noon and fill it again and drink till the end of the day. The all tease me about it, but I am loosing faster than I was before. Of course, it might be all the excercise I get walking to the bathroom and al the squats I do over the toilet!

Hope this helps, M L

Check out this site- the picture is a bit cheesy, but the info is interesting-

But no traditional doc has ever said it can do harm, so.... why not try it for a week? Good luck!

Actually, it is a controversial subject that's why I mentioned it. Cuz I hate to offer input without letting someone know that.

Some call it "overhydration," that it depleats the body of sodium & causes hyponatraemia, and electrolyte imbalances.

There's always oppossing opinions all from seemingly credible sources. Sometimes it can make your head real to know who to listen to. With the water, I go somewhere inbetween. I agree with the above post. Give it and week and see what works for you.

Just to be fair (or more confusing)- here's some other opinions-

Also, if you're doing the first two weeks w/ no carbs except veggies, I think it's normal to be tired at the beginning.

Good Luck & don't get discouraged! M L
