Smile What's your experience with hot dogs?

Hello All,

I just realized how funny this thread title is. LOL!

On a serious note, have you eaten hot dogs on Induction? I have some Boar's Head Beef Franks that are 0 carbs, but I am sure there are some low levels of carbs or sugar in the flavoring. Has anyone eaten hot dogs on Induction?

I've eaten hot dogs on Induction. Just make sure you only eat 1 or 2.
I know they say they have ZERO carbs but they have a lot of othe junk in them that messes with your metabolism.
When I've eaten them it has been a quick fix to hunger when I'm about to eat something else that is NOT OK on the induction stage. They become the lesser of 2 evils somewhat.
As a main staple I would avoid them.

We live off Ball Park Beef Hot dogs, heated up in microwave with mustard all over them. Sometimes you just want something quick and hot.

I eat hot dogs all the time. Fields "no sugar added" hot dogs are my favorite. I bet I eat 2 everyday and I still lose 1 pound a week. I have been at this since Aug 2003.

Boars Head Lite Beef are awesome, we have them usually once a week.
Hebrew Nationals are good too but they have 1 carb
both have no additives, no cereal or fillers
I usually have 2 or 3 for a meal
stay away from the cheap ones they're all full of junk

When I was on Atkins induction I would eat a brand of hotdogs called Topdogs. They had no fillers and were less then 1 carb per dog. We never had them often...perhaps once or twice a month when my boys wanted hotdogs. I ate mine, 2 or 3 of them, on a plate with some mustard and had a salad afterwards to finish it off.

Now that I am on Neanderthin I do not eat them. I find them too salty.

I lost 45 pounds on Atkins btw so having hotdogs on Induction occasionally will not harm you. Just make sure (as you have done) they are low carb.

My kids and hubby eat more hot dogs than I do (I don't eat a lot of salty foods). We put them in Corningware covered with water and plop them in the microwave for around 5 minutes. This helps to cut the salty taste quite a bit. My oldest daughter puts a slit in hers and fills it with mustard, chopped onions and dill relish. Hubby would live on hot dogs if I'd let him. They're just too easy for him to grab, and they haven't slowed him down one bit.

Oops! Forgot to say, my brother-in-law (also on Atkins) says you should eat three to four fat hot dogs a day. It must be a guy thing! LOL

I wouldn't have made it thru induction without my Hebrew Nationals!! The main filler they use is soy... so that might be where the carb is coming from??

Don't eat hot dogs very often at all, but love the natural casing ones from the deli. I think the brand is Silver Star. Says on the package less than a carb a piece, and they're longer than normal hot dogs.
They're just not the same without the bun.

WOW! I can't believe how much success everyone has had with hot dogs. When I saw the thread I for sure thought there were going to be negative results like I had....One night we had hot dogs for dinner - didn't feel like cooking - would have been a take out pizza or Chinese night but figured hot dogs would be better for me. Well, my ankles swelled up like balloons the next day! They stayed puffy all weekend! I chugged water, avoided ALL salt all weekend, kept my feet up as much as possible, I even bought water pills! NOTHING! So needless to say I am to chicken to try hot dogs again and I love hot dogs cooked on the BBQ!!!

HI

I eat hotdogs when I am desperate. I find they are salty usually, and the ones I eat have smoke added, which means nitrites, which means cancer causing agents (not so good). Plus, hot dogs I find are very easily digestible, which is bad for someone who likes to eat alot. I prefer food that just sits there for hours, making me feel full.

But just wait til BBQ season!

M

I just bough some and I can't wait to find out. Sometimes, you do need something quick that you can throw in the microwave.

Another thing that I did was order a hot dog instead of nachos at the movie theatre. I just pulled off the bun and squeezed the mustard on. Good and I did not feel bad about my BF eating a big bag of popcorn and a slurpee next to me. I still mean to get him for that....LOL

I can't eat hot dogs either. Too much sodium for my sodium-sensitive body.
