Question question about ketone breath

undefinedundefinedundefined

Hey...I just have a quick question. I have read about ketone breath...have many of you experienced it and at what point in the low-carb journey does it typically begin?

Thanks...

Melessa

I'm in my fourth week, been in ketosis since day 3, I think my breath is pretty good but I do smell it in my urine (though I have been eating a lot of asparagus and that can make it smell also). Not everyone gets ketosis breath. Good Luck!

I get keto breath on and off and have since about a week after starting Atkins. Some days it's worse than others. I find myself brushing my teeth a few extra times a day and making sure I carry sugar free breath mints of gum with me. I've noticed it sometimes in my urine, but my breath has been worse by far. It's just a small price to pay for the weight loss. I have a friend who is very into the healing properties of garlic and there are days that she exudes the garlic smell from every pore. I think I'd rather deal with the bad breath.

Hi Blondey,

I've had the dreaded keto breath now for a few weeks, I have noticed that it isn't so bad now that I'm drinking 100+ oz. of water each day - I think it kind of dilutes it. When I'm around people, I've been relying on the Altoids strips - they are sweetened with Sucralose (Splenda).

I also tried the Icebreakers little round pellets - nasty - gave me horrible heartburn.

Hope this helps - like Vicki said, bad breath is a small price to pay for the weightloss!

Pam

P.S. Hubby and Son have a code for me "BB" that means get something in your mouth Mom, you stink! LOL

I get the breath and urine, and although the breath isn't too bad, the urine is horrible!...I keep air freshner in my bathroom LOL..

Seriously, I have been on this plan quite a few weeks, adn it still hasn't gone away - but I look at it as a positive - I am saving a fortune on keto sticks becuase I KNOW I am in ketosis!

I only get it in my urine, but I find that staying well hydrated will not only help you lose weight but seems to lessen all ketone smells.
