Default Adkins Diet Question

Hello,

I have been told by several people that while you are on the Adkins diet that you should be on it for 7 days, off it for 2, and back on for another 7 days. So it would be a 7/2/7 combo the whole time you are on the diet.

They are saying that the 2 days I am off the diet it gives my body a rest from all the fats etc., I am taking in? Is this true or just a hoax?

I am confused because several different people have told me this. With this being my 3rd week on it, I am by far no expert.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi jdhssh, I'm not sure who has been giving you that information but it's obviously not anyone that has read Dr. Atkins book! Have you read the book yourself? If not I strongly suggest you do as it will give you a lot of necessary background information and answer any uncertainties that you may have about the diet. Just for the record, going off the diet for two days after every week is definitely not a good idea, it will just ruin all of the hard work you have put in over the seven days.

I am no expert, but Atkins doesnt have a weekend off plan that I know of. I seem to think that the Body for Life plan does though... I could be wrong though.

Not sure I'd call it a hoax, sounds more like some misinformed people, which when dealing with LC, is not uncommon Read Dr. Atkin's book and follow the plan accordingly, there are no days off (unless you decide to take some off), and you do not need 'a break from fats'. The plan is sound and healthy when done right, as they all are. However when you start playing around with them you could run into problems; there are reasons for 20g of carbs and 64 oz of water.

I have been using the atkins way of life for 7 months now and have never taken even 1 day break from it. In his book tho he does suggest that if U have come to a stall in your weight for an extended period of time that maybe trying a reversal diet for a few days then back to atkins might kick start the weight loss again. He says whatever the reversal diet is....it must be one where U are still in control of your eating
