Talking Formula 1 Challenge - Mar to Oct

Stepped on the scales today and was horrified to see that I was 208.2 pounds!!!

Have been doing a lot of thinking and have decided to use the start of the Formula 1 season to structure a weight-loss programme for myself, I think that it complies with all of the SMART objectives - and I have used the dates and targets in my signature, so it is there for all of my forum friends to see - and also something I will see on a daily basis ....

The dates and targets are:

Mar 7: Australia GP: 208
Mar 21: Malaysia GP: 200
Apr 4: Bahrain GP: 197
Apr 25: San Marino GP: 193
May 9: Spainish GP: 190
May 23: Monaco GP: 187
May 30: European GP: 186
Jun 13: Canadian GP: 184
Jun 20: USA GP: 182
Jul 4: French GP: 180
Jul 11: British GP: 178
Jul 25: German GP: 175
Aug 15: Hungarian GP: 170
Aug 29: Belgian GP: 168
Sep 12: Italian GP: 165
Sep 26: Chinese GP: 162
Oct 10: Japanese GP: 160
Oct 24: Brazilian GP: 158

The challenge is basically to set yourself targets for specific weight-loss goals on the days of the Grand Prix. If you reach this target then you are allowed ONE cheat of your own choosing, then it is back on track for the next Grand Prix .... hopefully by the end of the season - Oct 24th - there will have been a significant loss ...

It is strictly sticking to whatever low-carb plan that you are on (Atkins for me), drinking 2 litres of water and trying to do minimum of 20 mins of walking per day ...

Anyone is welcome and can join at ANY time during the season!!! The first race is this Sunday so have used this as my starting weight for the challenge!!!

I am a huge fan of Formula 1 ... am into Michael Schumacher (obvious I know!) although also like Jensen Button because he is British ....

Anyways ... hopefully I can get a couple of buddies and we can enjoy the season whilst shedding the pounds!!!! I am going to be strict for the first two weeks so can get myself back in ketosis, that is why I have estimated an eight pound loss, but then it is much more gradual.

Will keep you posted!!!

Lindy

I've never heard of it. What's the basis of it?

Hi Missaec

Formula 1 is the most advanced form of motor-sport. It runs in seasons from March to October, and they race at venues all over the world. The main teams are Ferrari, McLaren, Williams and Renault - trying looking on www.itv-f1.com for more details.

This isnt really a specific diet per se, rather an opporunity for me to restoke my dedication to the Atkins diet, whilst structuring my weight loss targets around specific dates on the F1 calendar ... a bit silly I suppose, but I am such a fan that it makes it fun for me too.

Please pop by my journal anytime! Hope that you have had a great day.

Well, today was the first weigh-in of the F1 challenge ... the target was 208 pounds and am as pleased as punch to report a loss of over 1.5 pounds!!!

Current weight is now 206.4!!!!

Now have to focus for the next race which is in two weeks time - I hope to be 200 pounds, I know that this is quite a hefty amount although aim to strictly follow the induction (will re-read tonight) ... thankfully my partner Peter will be doing it too so should be easier ... there is nothing worse than temptations in the house when you are going through induction!!!!

Watched the first race of the season today which was from Melbourne in Oz ... was Ok although not that nail-biting ... even though i am a Schumacher fan I prefer a bit more tension!!! The next race is from Sepang in Malaysia and should be more exciting!!!

Anyways - will be a good girl and will hopefully hit my target of 200 pounds on March 21st!!!!

Woo hoooo - it's nice to see several of us rising to the challenge

I've worked out that if I can keep to losing 2lbs per race (effectively once a fortnight) then I should be back down at my goal weight around the time the F1 circus rolls into Monza

Great race today! Well Done Schuie and WTG Jenson for your first podium appearance

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/mot...one/3554407.stm

However, I am not a happy bunny as I am UP a pound since I last weighed.

Very upset about this, especially as I'm feeling thinner and looking sleeker - but it could be because I am working out and building muscle.

I shall give it another week, and if I can't see any downward movement on the scales, then I shall have to have a hard look at what I'm eating.

Hope everyone else has done better than me today!

Hi Demi!!!

I thought that it was a fab race too, managed to stay awake to watch it live and glad that I did!!! Was so pleased for jensen button!!!

I am pleased that induction has paid off and I am now 199.3 pounds!!! Will be happy to get off induction and introduce a few more food items into my diet!!!

Sorry that you have gained a pound, but it sounds like you are gaining muscle with all of your exercise!!!!

Anyways ... going to change my profile!!!!

Hi guys!!!

well, this week has shown no move in the scales ... I am blaming it on TOM bloat, and also drinking a disgustingly large amount of cocktails on Friday night/Saturday morning!!!!

Still under 200 but am determined to get back on track again for the next race on 25th April ... need to shed 6 pounds in 3 weeks ... not impossible but a bit of a downer that I havent managed my target for this race.

The race was enjoyable, although a bit of a Ferrari red-wash again ... but so good to see the gorgeous Jensen Button on the podium for a second week in a row ... hopefully he will now be a regular there .... and fingers crossed that he makes it onto the top step before the end of the season!!!

I stayed the same - yet again

Actually my bodyfat% and my measurements have changed, but not my scale weight. Time to get tough I think!

Enjoyed the race - but missed the start because the RT said the actual race started at 1.00pm.
