Question How do people stay btwn 12 -1500 cals/day??

Ok I've been doing this since FEB 16th. And I have no idea how people stay fairly low on calories and stay low on carbs at the same time. Seems everything low calorie is high in carbs. So I'm either too high on cals or too high on carbs, what gives?

#1 I'm just too darn hungry to sustain myself on 1200, I can safely say that. (Mom of 3 boys (ages 1,2 and 3) and workout an hour a day also.)

#2 My fitday says I'm burning above what I take in each and everyday but I'm not losing anymore. (Yes I am being a bit "bad" eating some franken foods, but question still remains, If you take in less than you burn off, you should lose right?)

#3 I think I may just require more food than an avg woman, don't know. But I take in between 1700 and 1800 a day, any less than that and I'm left hungry.

Ok so there you have it, venting a bit here because I'm a little confused and frustruated.

I actually have a heck of a time just trying to get my calories up to 1700 and I am eating 70 to 90 carbs a day! I always wonder how people get it so high! Anyways, you are so close to goal and it's typical to lose slower as you get closer to your goal. Also sadly the foods with sugar alcohols do stall a lot of people. If you find yourself stuck for a few weeks you might want to try losing the franken food just to see if that was the culprit.

If you've been eating around 1200 cal./day for an extended period of time, there's a chance that your metabolism (BMR) has slowed to compensate, so you might not be burning as many calories as you think.

My body is weird and it depends on your Metabolism. Yours Burns more and faster then mine. Mine has always been slower. I eat no more then 1200 sometimes when I try to keep things goind I will up calories to 1300 then drop them down. Different strokes for different folks

You know what - you answered your own question - FRANKENFOODS - get rid of them!!!. Stick to real food, and you will find that you have a very hard time getting really high in calories most of the time.

Even if I don't eat the SF Rs's or Carb Smart Icecream I will still eat other things to fill that caloric intake because I just started eating those 2 weeks ago, but I haven't lost any weight since induction anyway. Induction ended back in Feb. So I'm not even postive its the franken foods. But yes I've already cut out the SF RS's. Working on cutting down on the Carb Smart ice cream.

STill wondering how its possible to burn off more than you take in daily and not lose weight? Doesn't make sense to me.

A calorie is not always a calorie - it matters where the calories come from IMO.

I range between 1300-1600 with an average of 1500.

Thats my usual range and it depends. I do my fitday in advance usually so I have an idea of whats going on in my head and then I modify it as the day goes along to what I really eat.

Today its listed as 1291 calories.
84 g fat
109g protein
29 carbs
13 fiber

For breakfast I had a cold chicken leg (skin on) with heinz 1 carb ketchup

For lunch I am having some leftover salmon with a pat of butter and a squirt of lemon juice. 2 cups of broccoli and a slice of muenster cheese melted on top.

For dinner I am making a roast with zucchini, onion and cauliflower cooked together and a big salad with romaine lettuce, cucumber, tomato, onion and avocado and I use olive oil and lemon as a dressing and then I add 3 cups of spinach to the salad and mix it in my big salad bowl and eat it with my meat and veggies.

If I am in the mood I might make some sugar free jello with knox and splenda, but I am not sure on that yet.

This is definitely an area where i know FitDay has to be wrong. I mean it says I burn 2500 cal a day 1600 being Basal! No possible way since it always shows I burn more than I eat so i SHOULD weigh like 80#!

I was going to say the same thing. Fitday is an estimate. You may not burn that amount in a day

I average 2000-2300 calories per day, while only consuming 25 carbs or less.

If you want to, you can check my Fitday foods. I eat a lot of meat that's high in fat. I don't eat any Frankenfoods if I can avoid them.

I have that problem too (keeping the calories low). It's not frankenfoods for me, only good ol fashioned whole foods dense in calories. I'm a big huge fan of peanut butter so that really ups the calories...
also if you cook with a lot of butter or oil it puts it over the edge. Lots of cheese is another culprit for me. also fatty meats, I'm a big fan of steaks!
I have a hard time keeping my calories below 2000. It seems like I'm hungry all the time unlike everyone else apparantly! I also work out 30-60 mins a day and haven't lost weight in ages.

For what it's worth -- keeping in mind that I'm still in the first two weeks of Induction -- I've lost a simply unbelievable amount, maybe 9-10 pounds in 12 days, on an astonishing 1800-2000 calories a day. I don't get it (I sure ain't arguing, though). I'm eating NO frankenfoods, though, can't even get them here in France; no artificial sweeteners at all, and no dairy, because I know myself well enough to know that if I start on a package of cheese, I'll finish it. Just fresh meat and fish, fresh veggies, and loads upon loads of olive oil. I frankly find this nothing short of a miracle; I mean, it defies the laws of thermodynamics. Try cutting out everything but the essentials! It's really working for me!

I have trouble reaching 1200, let alone 1500, but I follow mostly induction stage menus, so I know how you feel.
I don't eat any prepackaged food though, except the VERY occasional lc tortilla. It's hard to get that many calories when most of your food is in the form of vegetables.
Thanks for posting this, I'll be watching for suggestions as well.

I had the same results. I lost 21lbs in 21days while on induction. I was averaging between 2000 and 2300 calories per day.

Since then, I've maintained that average intake and have lost 4lbs every week for 5+ weeks
