Seasonal Eating
It seems I can not get enough of fresh spring veggies right now. I crave mixed baby greens for salad, and I made embarassingly audible 'yum-yum' noises over asparagus the other night.
Last summer, new to LC, I had to keep tomatoes in moderation, but I enjoyed them as never before - and in fall, I had a bit of a hard time staying away from root vegetables. Looking back, I see a new trend for myself.
I'm not aware of ever craving foods in season before. Then again, maybe that doesn't happen much if most of your food comes in frozen entree form.
I think it's more than just the fact that asparagus is tastier in spring than fall - I think since I'm eating more whole foods, my body is responding to natural, seasonal cycles of available food.
Does that make sense? Is anyone out there experiencing the same thing?
