The best "treatment" for a hypoglycemia symptoms ... is to prevent them from happening in the first place. Hypoglycemia isn't just about blood sugar being low, it's often also about insulin being too HIGH. Protein Power emphasizes the need for adequate protein intake, divided evenly through the day, and also the carb allowance is to be divided evenly through the day as well. So meals will be a combination of a percentage of the daily protein AND a set number of carbs (10g carbs per meal, or 7g if you have planned snacks between meals). Actually, smaller more frequent meals and protein-containing snacks is the recommended diet for hypoglycemia, even among the highCARB crowd ..
If you insist on the orange juice, remember that a mere ¼ cup (2 fl oz) has 7 to 8g carbs from sugar ... It would be good to have a little protein with it, so that the absorption of the sugar takes place more gradually, and less risk of a sudden jump in insulin level.
