Default Glucose Primary ENERGY source for brain

I have been doing research and have found article upon scientific article stating how glucose is the primary fuel and energy source for the brain

can someone guide me towards scientific documents that talks about how in the absence of glucose, the brain can adapt and function properly on an alternate fuel source i.e ketones, etc

I am doing this research because although i have had a succesful weight loss on atkins, i have had memory and learning problems since starting a LC diet

Thanks

An article by Lyle MacDonald. No references in the article but there are plenty in his book, The Ketogenic Diet.

There was another study I remember reading in relation to Atkins where they actually proved that the brain was more efficient on keotenes then glucose. Iswore it wason the Atkins web site, but I havn't been able to refind it. You might search through the book though as I belive he addresses this issue, it could be there.

The study LadyBelle mentions was done at Harvard Medical School and was mentioned in DANDR. However, my brain has been glucose starved for almost 2 years, so I'm probably not functioning well enough to be trusted. Nyah Levi

What we are missing here is that protein can readily be converted into sugar if your brain needs it. Therefore, whether the brain needs sugar or not is a mute point. However, I have read in some places that it needs some glucose as well as the ketone bodies. Sure, glucose is considered the primary fuel source for the brain, but most nutritionists consider it the primary fuel source for the body in general
