Default Hello everyone ...

.. I've just been browsing this section for the first time and I'm absolutely blown away by the sucesses here. Truely inspiring reading.

I stared Atkins 7 weeks ago, with a total of 113lbs to lose, though I'm a little unsure as to my ideal goal weight. 210 seems a little low as I'm 6' 4" with a large frame. :?

I have currently lost 33lbs and am excited by the prospect of actually breaking the triple digits sometime in the 'not-too-distant' future. You guys have proven it.

Welcome aboard! It is so true, when I feel discouraged because I have so far to go, I like to read all of the posts and see all of the folks who have come so far.... Group support seems to be a big factor in the success of the big losers! So glad to see you joining in the forum and I look forward to seeing you post as you move through your journey.

HI! Once you get close to your projected goal you can adjust. Whatever you decide, you will have the incredible, knowledgeble support that the TDC provides. If it weren't for the TDC, I would have quit instead of trying harder. Welcome aboard, congrats on your losses and may you have many more!

I wouldn't worry about the projected goal. I set mine at 210, and I'm 5'11" tall.

For you, 210 would be fairly thin. However, if your frame is slight it might not be too low. You may even decide to stop losing before that. Just see how you feel. In all, it will be a nice problem to have.

I figure to get there, then decide what to do about further adjustments to my goal. I set 210 because that's what I weighed in high school, the last time I was truly in good shape. I was lifting weights and running at that time, of course. I expect to adjust it down at that point, since I'm not getting anything like that level of activity and probably don't have that muscle mass either.

Hi TBP !

Welcome to the TDC! I love this place, its great to talk with and read about others who also have a substantial amount of weight to lose. I get a lot of support at home and work, but it is nice to get some support and inspiration from people who really can relate to my personal situation.

As for goal weight, I wouldn't stress about it. I chose 195 lbs (I haven't seen that weight since Jr.High). It all depends on how I feel though. I am 6'0" with a large frame, if I feel comforatable at 210 or so then I may stop there. Or maybe I'll go to goal and beyond! As a previous poster said it would be a great problem to have!

Congrats on your success so far!

Happy Losing!

Hi TBP! Welcome to the TDC. Congratulations on the weight you have lost. Doesn't it feel great?

Ahh, setting the goal weight.... That's a hard one. There are several threads around the boards on how others have done it. If you've been heavy for a long time, it's really hard to know what will be right for you. I agree with the others. Set something that seems reasonable for now and as you get closer you can adjust.

Good luck!

Thanks guys for your warm welcomes and words of encouragement. I feel a certain psychological kin-ship with y'all TDCers. I'm so glad to have found this place ... as I've had difficulty in relating to folks with less to lose than the weight of my leg.

I think this is one of those things that you can worry about when you're a lot closer. If you've built a lot of muscle, then it should be higher. If you've been running and are leaner, then it's lower. That's why body fat, clothes size or activity level is probably a better goal than weight in my mind.

But either way, good luck with your journey and keep us posted.
