Default Hi Girls! Question about size and weight.

Ok, I have set my goal at 155 thinking that's what will get me in a size 8. I am 5'3" med build. I wear a comfy 12 or snug 10. My favorite jeans are my husbands old 34 30 levis.

If you are a size 8 and roughly 5'3" can you tell me what size jeans you are wearing??

Thanks.
Kat

I am currently in a just-right 12. I weighed 150 when I got married in 95, and at that time I wore a size 8.

I'm 5'3" as well. I may of been a size 8 at 155. I still wear that mostly at 140. When I got down between 130-135 I could go to a size 6. I also like my clothes on the loose side.

I have a dream of being a size 4 or lower, but I think after 2 kids by c-section it may always remain a dream.

I can wear a size 6 or 8 ( sometimes a 4 )
I really think this is depending on wear you tend to carry your weight. Levi's 501's size: 31/30 Or comphy loose 32/30

I am 5'4" and weigh 149 and I can wear a size 8 and a few 6's too. Trying to get back into ALL my size 6's! But I also exercise a lot and lift weights, which may make a difference.

I am 5'4, 140 and can fit into most size 4 pants. I was wearing size 6 at 150.

You guys have to be kidding me! I'm joking.
But, I started Atkins at 144 and my size 12 jeans (Lee's roomier style) were getting tight on me. I'm almost 5'4. Now I've lost 26 lbs with dogged determination, and I'm finally comfortable in a size 6. I was whooping it up last week in the dressing room at Penneys because I found a pair of capris in a size 4 that fit perfectly (I suspect the pants run big).
Well--I think nosunnofun is right about it being where you carry your weight--I carry it in my rear and thighs, (always a sensitive issue with me!) while I'm pretty small on top. Oh well--the main thing is that I've gotten my body into better proportion, and I hope I can get even more so with exercise and weight training.

I'm with Peachagirl -- Size 4 at 140 pounds!!! How do you do that? At 137, my size 12's were getting tight around the waist. At 110 pounds, I'm in size 6 jeans if they have the regular, natural waist. I can only wear size 4's if they are the slightly lower rise style.

I am 5'4" around 137 and lost a lot of inches and wear an 8 or 10. When I started, I was around a 12, sometimes 10. I have a large frame, but with small bones and I think it definitely depends on your build. My shoulders are very broad and I always need to buy large shirts to fit my shoulders then have the sleeves altered. Even at my thinnest (around 100 15 years ago) I never was below a size 6 because of my hip bones being wide. At my heaviest, (165-170) 14's were too tight so I gave up and started wearing pajama and sweat pants.

When women get pregnant a hormone claled relaxin is released. Basically it loosens all your joints and is what makes us waddle and be so clumbsy. Part of the reason for it is your hip bones seperate and become wider to accomidate birth. That is why some women can diet all they want after kids, they never get back into old jeans. It's a matter of bones, not fat.

I have the same problem with wide shoulders you do. Any outfit with shoulder pads, those are the first to go. Even without them I resemble a line backer. Now if I could just get the huge chest to balance it........

Thanks everyone! I carry my weight all over. Based on your feedback I may be able to fit into a 8 at 150ish. That's my real goal..

Wow, what a variety of body sizes. I'm 5'4 when I stand up tall, weigh 131 lbs, and fit comfortaly in size 8. I do notice that LLBean size 8 is much looser than when I put on my daughter's Gap size 8. Those I have to suck in to zip. It must have something to do with the way they cut the style in the hip area - most people buying from Gap have not had kids.

Six months after my first child was born I weighed less than when I got pregnant with her, but could not fit into the pants I wore prior to pregnancy. The "relaxin" thing is true - it really does alter the bone structure in the pelvic region.

I'm beginning to think I'm severely abnormal.

I'm 5'2" or so
Last weigh-in was 160
Just bought a pair of pants that were size 8 and I celebrated.

My upper body is like a line backer, and I have wide shoulders and back, so there is an unlikelihood of ever getting into a really small size in that area. I wish (or have wished in the past), that the distance around was more to the front - because I have to buy large sized bras with very small cup sizes - not always a possibility. Of course, I don't necessarily want a big load in the front, I would like to be proportional (or narrower). However, heritage has a lot to do with it, and my mother and grandmother were large boned women, so I guess that's what I will have to endure.

I'm trying not to obsess over numbers on the clothing - I just want to feel and look good. I keep reminding myself I'm doing this for the health benefits, and the weight loss is a definite bonus, but was not my original goal.
