[QUOTE=Meadow_001]Interesting read on clothing sizes.

This might explain some differences in the sizes you remember getting into.. the sizes have changed a lot so a size 5 now isnt what it was 10 or 15 years ago.

Well, that explains one thing, although it was nice the other day to actually get into a size (number-wise) that I wore before children (BC).

However, I was sure, back then, that my waist was significantly smaller, and obviously I've been reconfigured, thanks to carrying children both inside and out.

So, my upper body is unlikely to change substantially, even as a result of this WOE, as my rib cage was expanded due to pregnancy, and it's not apt to revert to its pre-pregnancy shape.

So, my measurements/sizes will likely remain fairly consistent on the top, while I can improve somewhat on the bottom.

For the record -

Height 5'2 or 5'3 (depending on if you ask me, or my son)
Weight (this past Monday) 160
Pants size - rather loose 10 or nicely fitting 8 (as of this week)
Dress - 12, hanging loose - probably won't be buying too many dresses, anyway - rather two pieces, as I can fit them better.

Besides, with my job, pants are almost a necessity (and there was a time I would hardly consider wearing pants - and wouldn't even try shopping for them).

You know this is funny how people are shaped differently. I don't really know what I am apple/pear/spear whatever. I have large boobs but large legs and thighs my butt isn't huge but my hips are about the same as my chest. Maybe off by like 2 or 3 inches. I am also kind of solid with grande bones . I wonder what size I will be by the time I hit 160. At my rate I am assuming I will be a real nice 10 I don't really wanna be smaller than that. What do you ladies think. Although I don't know that's about 27 pounds.

That's why I put my measurements on mine, that makes alot of difference. All my weight is in my hips, abdomen and butt, I'm only a 36B on top...so I don't need to loose there! I'll be happy fitting solidly in a size 10 pants!

Ok here's another one, can someone explain this. Is it cause we are just all shaped different. I'm 5'3 too and a size 20 aswell but I weigh 246, that's 15 pounds heavier than Karen. What's the deal?

I had to run upstairs and check my clothes and it's correct, I'm a 20.

Hi Afwife!!

Some people store more muscle than others. Also some ppls bones are larger than others. So you may weigh more but take up less space so to speak (not meant to offend any one ). At least that has always been my experience. For instance I always weighed more than my sister but she wore a larger size than me. She almost had to loose like 20lbs to be my size. That was when I weighed 172 and she weighed 167.

Go figure!!

moving out of 26 into 24
Apple shaped, abdomen bigger that bust and hips

My decreasing size is a little frustrating right now because I have my first job outside the home in 16 years and need some work clothes but hate to buy things that I know will be too big in a month (I hope!) but HATE to wear tight clothes! The rolls are most unattractrive! Gotta get back to those crunches! and get to work.

Thanks hislady,

I was starting to wonder if my scale was wrong and telling me I weigh less than I actually do. But I changed the batteries and it still shows the same.

I have a small frame, but well-developed thighs from years of ballet training as a child.

What sort of differences are there with clothing sizes in different countries? I keep hearing of people being size 4 & 6, in Australia ladies clothing doesn't go under size 8.

24 dress/26 pants (big hips, small waist) depending on who/what/when/where/why HA!

I'm a pear shape right now. My normal shape is a bottom heavy hourglass. I'm sorta buxom.

Interesting and informative thread!
