Question Vitamins & Ketostix ?

Just curious....Does taking a multi-vitamin have any influence on the Ketostix?...In the morning they show moderate...Afternoon shows higher level of ketosis...(is this due to a multi-vitamin?)

I've been staying within the same few pounds the last week and 1/2...and was just wondering..

I'm now convinced the multi-vitamin I'm taking does have an influence on ketosticks... It looks as if both + and - are ligthing up on the sticks...

Your multi vitamin should not affect it, but different foods can, and exercise can. Therefore, you should only test first thing in the morning before you eat, drink or exercise. Other readings throughout the day cannot be considered reliable.

The reason it could be showing higher in afternoon is the fat you are eating in the day. Diatary fat can be converted to keotenes as well, so if you have a high fat breakfast and lunch like you should, the sticks can be darker. Also make sur eyou are drinking enough water and not beverages that can dehydrate you. Exercising more will decrease the number of keotenes as they are consumed for energy.

Some of the b-vitamin complex, as well as beta carotene .. can dye the urine dark yellow-orange. This might possibly make the stick appear more "dark" or positive than it really is.

I've also read that large amounts of vitamin C can cause false negative results. That is to say ... high vit C intake doesn't affect ketosis, it just alters the urine's acidity so that the sticks can't make a proper reading
