Does anyone know if it is possible to eat yogurt if I am allergic to dairyl

Probably not. Yogurt is just milk with active cultures.

Yes, it is possible. Most people who are lactose intolerent can handle a small amount of lactose - but mileage my vary. Yogurt has much less lactose then regular milk - the bacteria eat it and convert it. I can't think off hand how much lactose is in yogurt, but if you are careful with your serving sizes you should be able to gradually eat some and see how you go.

You could try a little, but I would be very cautious.

Unfortunately the theory that yoghurt "eats" the lactose is largely a myth. See this thread for more info.

Thank you for your replies. When I add yogurt to my diet, I will be very careful. Maybe for now I will just add the bacteria in capsule form.

When you say you are allergicc to dairy, do you mean lactose intolerent, or one of those people who have to be rushed to the hospital if some milk even splashes on thier arm?

If it sends you into shock or makes you break out in hives, then no don't even try it is my vote. If you are lactose intolerent, then some people with intolerence find they can handle yogurt in small amounts (about 1/2 cup a day). You'd just have to try it and see.

There are soy milk yogurts on the market. Most I have seen are sweetened and very high carb. I am going to try and figure out how they make soy milk yogurt though and if I cna make it from soy slender or unsweetened soy milk. That way it would be dairy free and only 1 net carb for an entire cup.
