I won't miss....

-Having to shop in the big stores, ie Adittion-elle abd Cotton Ginny Plus

-Tripping up the stairs or escalator because I'm too tired to lift my feet

-Squeezing into a seat on the bus or subway

-The energy CRASH in the middle of the day, every day, for years

Funny, I keep my pictures and my fat pants around to remind me of how well I did, and how important my weight is to me. People still comment all the time.

Love it!

M

Edited to add: OH YEAH! the thighs ripping open on my pants! I have asked people, fat like I was, if that happened to them... thank you for validating me!

Gosh, so many of you mentioned the inside thighs of pants rubbing away...oh, that used to make me feel so rotten! Especially since the rest of the pants were still hardly worn.

For me, going to the closet to get dressed in the morning is no longer something to dread...especially when I used to try to put on something that fit just a little while ago, and trying to tell myself it WASN'T too tight...it was just TOM...or it has shrunk in the wash!

I won't miss:

Burning thighs and ruining my pants
Trying to fit into normal sized lawn chairs - and hoping they don't break
not being able to cross my legs
the rolls on my back
tyring on last season's clothes and realizing they no longer fit
having my daughter poke my belly adn say "jiggly jiggly"

This is a great thread. Thanks for starting it. I usually hang out in the South Beach forum, but it's too quiet over there.

I won't miss walking down the corridor at work and making that sound from pantyhose thighs rubbing.

I won't miss standing when everyone is sitting on a curb or low chairs because I doubt I can get back up gracefully.

I won't miss worrying if there's enough space between the tables and chairs at a restaurant so I can go to the restroom and back without having to nudge someone's chair.

I won't miss feeling like my liver is going to explode when I tie my shoes.

I won't miss hating to see my reflection in the mirror.

I won't miss ducking out when someone breaks out a camera.

I won't miss sore, tired hips and sore, tired feet.

I won't miss not having enough energy to get up and dance when the spirit moves me.

I won't miss having my wedding rings be so tight they hurt.

I won't miss my huge breasts or the rolls of flab on my back.

AMEN to the wedding rings - forgot about that one. I haven't worn mine in a few years so for our 10 year anniversary my DH bought me a 3 stone anniversary ring. Well now wouldn't you know I can wear my wedding rings again...............YEA!

Fantastic thread! SO inspiring!

I won't miss my clothes feeling so snug, or being out of breath, or thinking, I used to be so small! I can't wait to get back into those clothes in my closet - I used to LOVE getting dressed each morning! Now I hate it.

Great question, that really makes you think and search your soul, for why each of us dislikes being overweight.

I WONT miss:

-being uncomfortable in my own skin
-hating what I look like naked
-only being able to shop in the 'plus size' shops
-paying more money for 'plus size' clothing, then other people do.
-hating shopping for clothes.
-hating looking at myself in the mirror when shopping for clothes, and ending up buying the clothing that I 'hate least' on me, rather then something I 'love'.
-thighs rubbing together, and wearing out pants where my thighs rub together
-feeling self-conscience everywhere I go, and thinking people are looking at me.

I hated that sound. I'd never wear cordoroy for that reason - got worried I might start a fire!

Fantastic thread!
I won't miss:
*Having my breasts and belly in the cold when I take a nice hot bath
*Hearing someone laugh in public, and being thoroughly convinced that they must be laughing at me.... then beating myself up for being narcissitic and paranoid
*My doctor saying 'Cholesterol's a bit high, I'd like to see those sugars come down a bit' (every six months for the last seven years!)
*Arguing with my beloved dh about the high carb foods I was eating, that were putting my blood sugar up, and causing him considerable worry about my long term health
*My medication to control my blood sugar
*The highs and lows of eating carbs... the incredible guilt over being 'bad', the anger at myself for my weakness
*Trying to mask the fact that I'm out of breath after going up a flight of stairs

I will NOT miss:

- The tiredness all the time, especially in the afternoon
- My thighs rubbing together
- Having to wear Gypsy-Style skirts all the time, because I can't find any trousers that fit
- Not being able to wear my Belly Tops as my Belly was hanging over my trousers
- Looking like a Blob in a Bikini
- Not being able to walk up the stairs without feeling like my legs will give way
- Not being able to cross my legs
- Struggling to do up my shoes
- not being able to run, as it makes my ankles hurt
- seeing other women in smart pencil skirt suits and feeling like a drab next to them in my long-skirt-hide-fat-outfit
- having permanent adult acne
- having to wear trainers with my already drab outfit to get to work, as I cannot wear smart shoes/high heels for any length of time without my feet hurting
- catching every cold going

Can't agree on the not needing to buy new pants or summer wardrobe, I will have to buy a whole new set of clothes, as my old ones are too big !!
I really hate myself this big. I was always slim (UK-Size 8) until 5 years ago, so I am not used to being big (if you can ever get used to it...) and it still amazes me, how many things you can't do when you are bigger.
