Mike, I thought it was interesting too. I started eating 6 meals on Sat and also started a cleanse recommended to me by my dr. Basically I'm just eating meat and nuts with a few veges because I'm slightly allergic to practically everything else. I was really surprised to see my appetite disappear when my protein increased. That study seems to support my observations. As a side note TOM started on the day I started my cleanse and I'm usually insanely hungry that day, but not this time.

Hi RT!

Sorry I haven't been around in a few days, but Mike has been giving you good advice. How about just trying to follow BFL by the book for one challenge (12 weeks)? I think you will find the carb bloat to be temporary, and the increased carbs will give you more energy to do the more strenuous workouts. Your diet sounds healthy; overall I would say you are on the right track. I agree with Mike that you are at a healthy weight and body fat already, so anything additional is mainly asthetic, not that there's anything wrong with that. I too was at a similar stall eating a similar diet to what you posted (I was following TSP). Just couldn't get any lower on the b.f. Then I posted a message to the official Schwartzbein website about what she considered "ideal body composition" and this was the response:
Quote:
Dear Jennifer,

I found a chart that may help you at
www.healthchecksystems.com/bodyfat.htm that classifies your % body fat
(men and women) into categories. Assuming that you are an average
active female:
CLASSIFICATION WOMEN(% FAT)
Fitness 21-24%
Acceptable 25-31%
We consider ideal body composition to be near the fitness range.

Sincerely,
Betsy Stanshine RD

Before making any dietary changes or beginning a dietary supplement
regimen, please discuss this information with your doctor.

So that encouraged me to look at other options for diet. I've been checking out the bodybuilding websites for tips lately. HTH!

Jen

Thanks so much, Jen! It was helpful to see that advice about body fat--my one concern being that I'm only guestimating. And my waist/hip ratio is borderline healthy, so I'd like to get it down. But as my DH says, at our age, it's all about not getting any worse.
