Talking Insense.Chicken!!

you.will.not.believe.what.i.just.did.

i.decided.to.boil.chicken.and.make.soup.without.noodles.
then.i.thought.i.better.bake.the.chicken.to.make.sure.it.was.
cooked.
i.timed.it.for.half.an.hour...
minutes.into.the.baking..the.house.started.smelling.like.flowers.
i.could.not.figure.out.where.the.smell.was.coming.from.

so.when.the.chicken.was.done.i.took.it.out.and...
found.out.i.had.left.a.package.of.insense.in.the.oven!!!
i.had.just.set.it.there.for.the.time.being.and.forgot.all.about.it
i.dont.know.if.i.want.to.eat.it.now!..

good.thing.it.didnt.start.on.fire!

Ha ha ha ha ha ha
Sorry - I really did laugh!

When I was a kid my mum (bless her) roated a chicken with the plastic bag of giblets inside. I've never forgotten the taste - she made us eat it.

I think the best thing you could do with your chicken is chop it up and use it in a curry to mask the taste...or eat it anyway if it taste's OK. Insence isn't poisonous.

That's an interesting way to smoke a chicken!

I would definitely try a piece. You might be pleasantly surprised!

But I have to ask...why do you keep incense in your oven?

At least your home is smelling nice and springy..... I don't think I would be brave enough to try a piece. You let the chicken cook a while, I'm sure it absorbed some of that incense. Let us know how it turned out.
You could always put the chicken in a potpurri bowl!!!!

I would not eat that chicken, who knows what kind of toxins it absorbed.

And I've got to ask, is there something wrong with your spacebar?

Your incense chicken story reminds me of another oven storage story. My mother would often store things in the oven. Once upon a time, she stored a big green tupperware container filled with almond bark-covered pretzels in it. She preheated the oven for something and I tragically discovered green pretzels oozing to the bottom of the oven...She never stored anything in there again!

I'm more worried about the fact that you only cooked the whole chicken for 30 minutes than I am about the incense. That's not long enough, in my opinion. But if you then used it in soup, probably okay.

My mother used to store various things in her oven as well. I've learned over the years to look inside first!

I always store my roasting pans and sometimes baking sheets in my oven, but never anything that will be damaged if I forget it in there when I'm preheating!

Had to laugh at this one, tho

Default I lost a toaster oven that way.

Seemed like a good place to keep it. I never cooked much anyway (still don't).

Preheated one day.

Lord, did THAT ever stink!

I thought nottalozer was doing an extreme e.e.cummings. or something. I have a poet friend who'd like her keyboard ;- )

Hmmm, can you make things more tasty by cooking in incense? It seems kind of possible. The toxin thing is a little troubling, but since I nearly survive on brown and serve sausages and love anything with blue food coloring, it's hard to say what would kill me first.
