Question Is this normal???

Is it normal to see weight drop first before inches?

I am finally happy to see the scale say 188 lbs, but how come I have not dropped any inches, infat, I think I gained 1 or 2. I can't remember.
I think, I am going into the will this really work *feeling*, and I am working and fighting really hard to ignore it. Because I know its working, I have not been under the 190 mark in 11 years.

HELP!!!

my inches are not really budging much either, I've lost 15 pounds since 1/1/04. I have people tell me that my pants are baggie in the butt, I'm down a size but can still wear my bigger sizes not all that uncomfortably. THey still fit in the waist but bag in the crotch and butt. Maybe I don't measure where the loss has been or something, but my chest measurement actually went up .5 inch, it's my hips where I notice the difference in measurements.

I am also wondering if maybe I am not loosing inches because I started working out the same time I started this diet?

Because I know muscle takes up mass and even weighs more.

Just a thought

I didn't show a loss in "inches" for at least a month but on the scale it showed right away. I'd say it's normal.

I read somewhere that women lose weight from the top down. I know the first few pounds I lost could only be seen in my face. Then my chest. And finally, it's barely noticeable in the waistline of my jeans.

I agree the first to go was my face! then a little on the ribs...I thought my stomach would never go down a little.. and sometimes I wish it would go faster!! but I think its that women thing about the middle being where the baby grows and keeps the fat the longest?
anyway don't give up eventually it will move( it has to hehe)

We have fat deposits everywhere. It very well could be melting from your face first. It could also be that you are building muscle. Congrats on the loss!!!!!!

There is an interseting thread (How Fat Move About) under Best Of. Here is one post from the thread:
http://forum.lowcarber.org/showpost...931&postcount=5

I lost 35 lbs in 7 months, reached my goal weight without losing even one inch from my waist line. (Both losing inches from everywhere else.)Two months later I started to lose waist inches rapidly, without losing more lbs. After 13 months I am in my previous shape (actually in much better shape:-)
