Default Pork Rinds -Wpg

For the Pork Rind Lovers:
I myself have not aquired a taste for these but I know many people enjoy them. I found the Old Dutch ones, bacon puffs, horrible.
Found some at Supervalu they were flavored and spicy, not too bad.

Today I found some at Odd Lots on Wall St. they come in flavors -BBQ. Ketchup and Plain. The BBQ ones were 0 carbs.
They are called Porkys and are made by Trophy Foods.

Default Re the Porky's rinds

I bought the Pork's BBQ rinds last week. As someone who does not like rinds in general I thought I would try them. My husband usually loves them. These were HORRIBLE. One bite from each of us and in the garbage they went. Quite the aftertaste. Just a warning for what its worth.

Eating pork rinds plain is just horrible. However, when crushed they do make a decent crumb substitute. Still, it's very rare I eat them myself.

When I was last down to the states, I picked up a package of microwave BBQ pork rinds. They looks like a microwave popcorn package, and I'm a little scared to try them out. I bet they're just vile....

i used to be able to stomach them as a dipper for tuna salad, but all I really like them for now is to use as a filler in mealoaf, to bread chicken or to make that pancake recipe with cream and eggs (actually i think its called French toast....its a nice filler whenI can't figure out wht else to eat)

We have travelled through the States a lot and they have many varieties down there. Some are really tasty, others not so much, and some, really BAD!! My DH eats them all! I have been meaning to try the french toast recipe but so far haven't. Maybe this trip. Do you follow the recipe exactly or have you made any modifications, lenni?

Default pork rind pancakes

surely do

1 bag pork rinds crushed
1/4 C cream (ive done half with water)
1-2 pkts splenda (i buy the boxed stuff and just guess)
cinnamon to taste
2 eggs

i let it all sit for a few minutes and i get two bulky pancakes from it...i usually dont like syrup but tried it with the atkins stuff...just because

I wonder what it would be like with flavored rinds with butter on instead of syrup

also another good way is to just put splenda and cinnamon on the pork rinds and bake them for a few.....not bad

Yes, aren't they the worst?

I bought a six-pack at Costco - tried both the plain and the BBQ flavour - now I have four bags of garbage.

I don't mind the no name brand (have only tried plain) from Superstore, though.

I make pretty good natchos with them. Just add cheddar cheese, ground beef, and bake. Great with salsa and sour cream and very low carb, when compared to LC natcho chips.

I agree the pork taste gets to you. But the natchos are pretty good.
