Default Splenda Measurement Question.....

Hi all,
I want to make a chocolate cheesecake for my sweetie for Valentine's Day. Now before you tell me there are plenty of cheesecake recipes in the recipe section or online......I'm going to use a recipe for an Oreo cheesecake that was on the MSN homepage this morning. You see, he's not low carbing, but I am. So rather than make it completely low carb, I'm just going to go halfway. I'll use the artificial sweetner, but I'll still use the Oreo crust.

Anyhoo.....can someone please confirm Splenda to sugar ratios for me? The recipe calls for 1/2 cup of SUGAR. The Splenda website doesn't give ratios, but I've been able to determine that 1 packet of Splenda is equal to 2 tsps of sugar. If 3 teaspoons equals 1 tablespoon, and 8 tablespoons equals 1/2 cup....I figure I need just under 8 packets to equal 1/2 cup of sugar. Am I figuring this right or am I completely crazy?

Please help me! Math was never one of my strong points!
Thanks!

It would be best to buy the boxes of "bulk Splenda" that is a powder, not in little envelopes. There is more of the bulking agent in the powder and that's what makes it act just like sugar in baking. So you use 1/2 cup of Splenda instead of 1/2 cup of sugar.

The stuff in the individual envelopes is great for sweetening but doesn't act quite like sugar in recipes.
