Default exercise equipment

I've been looking into buying some exercise equipment. Basically I want something for strength training, since I already have a treadmill for cardio. I saw the "Total Gym", which looked really good, but have also found a very similar, lower priced version called the "Total Trainer." Does anyone have either of these, and could you give me an idea of how well they work? Are they easy to use, well built, etc.?

My husband and I are Total Gym 1500 JUNKIES!!!! We LOVE IT!!!! It is sooo easy and convenient, and NO, I am NOT a rep for the company!!! Get the 1500 - order it online. The other ones are soo expensive, and the 1500 works great.

I have the Total Trainer which I opted for because I believe it is better constructed and less expensive. I guess they save the money because Total Gym does all the advertising. Compare them side by side and see what you think. When I retire I will also probably look at the Gazelle because I have Plantar Fasciitis and that is very low impact. Don't brush off exercize like Yoga and Pilates that require little equipment. Do not ignore the meditation part of Yoga. You can also buy a video from Total Gym which uses either the Total Gym or Total Trainer as a reformer.

Thanks for all the info. I went ahead and ordered the Total Trainer. I can't wait till it comes! And, I love yoga. I took some classes last summer when I was off, but there is no where to take classes where I live without traveling about 45 min. I don't have the room to do it at home. This machine is actually going into my basement next to the treadmill. The basement's cold and concrete...not to conducive to yoga and meditation! But, OK for running and strength training. Thanks again for your reply.
