Question Newbie looking for help and advice.....

Hello out there...I came to ask a few questions....started this once and hit the silly back button and it deleted it.....I started this diet last monday (Feb 2nd) weighing in at 195.5 and fat % of 48.....I weigh every day after I go to the gym and the pool....today (Feb 9th) I am 190.5 and fat % of 47.....I can weigh one day and have dropped 2 pounds since the day before but then the next day I gain 1 back....I have a goal to reach 145 before May 2nd....do you think this is feasible......I guess what I am asking is at what rate should the fat percent go down......do I seem to be on a good route to get where I need to be by the date set......I guess I get discouraged knowing I work so hard only to gain back some of what I lost.....I wanna get on the scale and lose a 1/2 pound a day.....I need to drop 4.25 pounds each week to reach my goal......another question is this....if I am gaining muscle wouldn't the fat percent go down.....someone told me I gain back muscle and that is why I regain.....But I can not agree with this if the fat percent is not going with the weight gain....Am I making any sense here at all...LOL.....I know my diet now from what it was before is so drastically different....that I shoudl jsut be sheding pounds or so I think....LOL.....any help would be nice.....I get discouraged and sometimes I tell myself that it is not worth all the stress to keep it up if I cant reach my goal.......
Thanks in advance......Michelle

Hi Michelle.

Hmmm... by May 2? That would be 3-4 lbs a week. I think you started too late. Most people on average will lose 10% of the weight they need to lose on induction, and 5% per month after that. Remember that every pound of fat contains about 3500 calories. That's a lot. You're probably not going to see loss on a daily basis. 1-2 lbs per week would is about average and generally considered safe.

I wish you all the best luck, and you're certainly doing all the right things, but give your body permission to go at its own rate, and enjoy the ride in the meantime.

I agree. I'm losing about 1 pound per week. Sometimes less, but I don't know anyone who loses 4 pounds per week on a regular basis after induction. I don't think your body will let you lose that much weight that quickly no matter what you do.

But But But.....If I shed the pounds by the 2nd I get 100.00.....On the other side of the deal is my friend has to get six pack by then also......she is at 40% fat and she needs to be 16% by the 2nd also....who has the better chance at making this goal.....or could you say we would both fail......if that is the case give me my ice cream.....

Ok what I meant was ....sigh...the date is not the goal..
your health i s the goal. Low carb is probably your best chance to be at a different spot them you are now. Ice cream will only take you over the 200 mark..
Do a strength routine not aerobic-stay off the lc bars and candy and get enough protein. Good luck

TONS OF EXERCISE....I doubled my rate of losing weight simply by working out and eating all veggies and meats...ALL my carbs come from veggies (give or take 1 or 2). I also have been on atkins almost 2 months, and I've stayed in induction the entire time. I eat 20 carbs a day.

I've been told that you burn more calories if you do cardio after you lift. I'm not quite sure why, but the guys at my gym seem to know what they are doing. I just thought you might want to try that, every bit helps. Good luck.
