Well thank goodness I found this thread!! And this site for that matter. I have been freezing my butt off this past week!! I have a raging fire in the fire place and have had to resort to wearing socks and long pants instead of my regular shorts and a tee shirt around the house. I have even had to quit putting ice in my water to see if that
helps, but it doesn't. Thanks for making me feel like I wasn't "losing my mind!"

I found this thread talking about zinc. http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthre...&highlight=zinc

That doesn't make it fact, but so far I didn't find anything about being cold and zinc, I did find zinc and having a cold. Zuleikaa could you let us know why it helps?

Isn't it great to have a place to come to and ask questions and realize that YOU ARE NOT NUTS???

I was beginning to wonder about myself.

I'm cold, too - but I think it has more to do with the weight loss.

Here's my theory: when your body has extra fat, you need more blood volume to supply the fatty tissues. When you lose fat, your blood volume self regulates and you lose some through the kidneys/renal system. However, the amount of skin you have doesn't change nearly as quickly. So you have a relatively large surface area of skin that is now "serviced" by less blood (which is a heat conductor). Also, the blood isn't being circulated as quickly, because your heart rate/blood pressure are lower...

In my houswehold we noticed that we are cold this winter too. DH almost wanted to go see the doctor to find out why he was cold. But I'm cold too. We are both on this WOE. We have both lost some weight. I have lost weight before and didn't seem to get cold. But that time I wasn't eating Low Carb. Well Summers here are really Hot so I hope I can still feel cold then.

I was cold when I was drinking all my water iced. Constantly pouring icy water into the core of my body.

Now I drink my water room temp and I don't get as cold as before.

FWIW, I lost almost 50 pounds 5 and a half years ago (not low carb) and have been fighting being cold ever since. I freeze all winter. It's not too bad in the summer (although I have to wear a sweatshirt to work, even when it's 100 degrees out ), but I'm getting tired of it.

I don't think it's insulation, because I wasn't cold before I got fat. I'm seriously thinking of getting my thyroid checked.

I was so hot all my life....ALWAYS sweating and now I am a frozen popsicle..cant get warm!!! I thought I hated being hot but I dont like being freezing any more than the other... well I am praying that I tolerate summer with less A/C becuase in the past I do not survive nicely w/o AC and its kinda pricey nowadays

I found the information in Nutritional Healing. Also here.

I've been taking the zinc for years. Before that I used to have to wear undershirts and jackets on the hottest days of summer.

Cold is also symptomatic of hypothyroidism.
