Question is this cereal safe for atkins?

HI everyone, I need hepl. I have been on Atkins for 3 months, all is great but I need more food!!! I found a store brand cereal "Bran Flakes" I just need to know if it is safe for me to eat. Total Carb 23g / dietary fiber 5g / soluble fiber 1g /
insoluble fiber 4g / sugars 5g / other carbohydates 13g
I would use "Hood" low carb Milk 3g of carbs in that. Thanks for your help.

Are you in Pre-Maintenance (5 lbs. from your goal weight)? If so, then you can have more carbs than the rest of us. You just have to figure out what your CCLM (critical carb level for mainenance) and dole out your carbs accordingly. As far as I can tell, the net carbs is 18 grams. (23 total carbs less fiber (5g) = 18 net carbs

But, be careful. Having 21 net carbs in a meal (cereal plus milk) can spike your blood sugar that in turn could increase your cravings.

Make sure when ever eating something that high carb to have some protien with it. Have you been slowly upping your carbs?

If you have been upping your carbs to where that can fit in your daily allowance, then try it. If you havn't yet, the sudden carb raise could cause unstable blood sugar and water retention.

I make my own cereal:
1/2 cup of Flaxmeal (>2 net carbs)
1 scoop of Lean Whey any flavour (>2.5 net carbs)

Add hot water & splenda or atkins syrup to taste.

Both "Hi-Lo" and Atkins Almond Crunch are low carb.

Hi-Lo is 5 net carbs per serving, and Atkins is 3 carbs.

Both have a taste that you have to acquire. At first I thought I was eating sawdust!!!

But I had been eating VERY HIGH CARB Granola (did taste great though!)

I've gotten used to the Hi-Lo and Atkins cereals. Usually 3/4 cup with Carb Countdown Milk........

If your hungry all the time, make sure your eating 6 times per day...

Breakfast
Mid-morning snack
Lunch
Mid-afternoon snack
Dinner
Evening snack

There's plenty of good low-carb stuff to eat out there, but remember this.........

BOREDOM IS THE ENEMY!!! Keep coming back to this board to get fresh food ideas!

I like the Atkins cereal - the only issue is that it gets soggy FAST! by the time I am halfway through the 2/3 cup serving the rest is sogging up! But I think it tastes pretty good!

You should try the Atkins pancake and waffle mix. It is so good and only 3 net carbs. I have been having those most mornings. It actually finally broke my stall. I was just doing bacon and eggs.

I find that I don't get hungry after eating the Atkins cereal. Regular cereal use to make me hungrier than if I ate nothing.

This was good for me, I like soggy cereal The KETO flakes are hard and dry and never get soggy no matter how much you soak the dang things.

Atkins blueberry Bounty is great.

At 18 net carbs the bran flakes are a little high, but you can ad din wheat germ to half a serving or mix it with yogurt maybe to bulk it out.

Good suggestions for cereal from everyone!

One more suggestion, proceed with caution.

See if your body sends out any signals like cravings for more, bloating, feeling uncomfortable...If this happens, it's something you should back away from. How you feel will be your best guide.
