Congratulations on choosing to participate in this challenge! Week one is over.....off we go to Week #2!

Session 1 - Walk for 35 minutes
Session 2 - Walk for 30 minutes
Session 3 - Walk for 40 minutes

Remember the goal isn't necessarily distance, we are trying to increase our stamina and increase speed slightly. Continue focusing on keeping your shoulders square and relaxed, achieving an efficient stride length and maintaining a consistent pace.

As you increase your intensity, the importance of warming up and cooling down exercises increases.

REMEMBER TO DRINK PLENTY OF WATER AND STRETCH FOR AT LEAST 10 MINUTES BEFORE AND AFTER WALKING.

Come back and let us know how you are doing during the week!

Have you noticed a difference in your walking? Is it easier? more difficult? faster?

Well I'm going to have to go to the gym to get my walking in this week, or at least part of it. It was -29c this morning, -41 with the windchill. Heading out to Vancouver for a few days at the end of the week and I hope the weather will be good enough to get in a walk there.

Have a good week everyone
Kelly

Hey Marty. Haven't seen you around-hope your cold is better and you are staying warm. Did you get much snow?

My walking has really been curtailed with this weather. It was -33c/-27.4f this morning.

Hope everyone else is doing good

Kelly

Hi folks,

I got 30 minutes of walking in yesterday - actually... it was more like 40, but broken into 2 sessions. I ran out of time in the morning, so could only walk for 20, so I walked another 20 after work. Not quite the making the point of building up my stamina, but thought was better than skipping No walking today, but I did make my aquafit class. More walking tomorrow!

How's everyone doing?

Wynter

Last week I was able to complete all three sessions.

This week has started out a little slower and hopefully I will be able to get the 1st session in tomorrow.

Hi TJ, I'm sorry I have not posted much. I just started another semester of college and with work and family, I just don't have the time. I will still have it as my goal to walk 10k and I hope all of you here reach your goals too.

Marty

Default OT - cold!

Hi all - speaking of the cold I just had to post this link School bus leaves boy, 6, alone in cold This just happens to be my nephew who lives in Ontario where it was -28 C on Monday. I just couldn't believe it when I heard the news. Thankfully he had enough smarts to find somewhere warm to go otherwise it could have been much worse!

How awful Teresa, The school should be lucky they are not getting sued over something like this. I don't know how it is up there where you all are at, but over here we have to put down emergency numbers from neighbors or friends and if your parents cannot be reached they will reach someone else before they send you on the bus.

They now have eight phones numbers! Purely an oversight but we are hoping they revisit their policy and ensure that any gaps are eliminated!

Smoothblu - funny you should mention that because I too had a really sore heel after my last big walk. I wondered about walking shoes? but wasn't sure....maybe time to talk to podiatrist about orthotics?

Anyone else experiencing foot pain and remedy?
