As usual, lots of spouting off without any knowledge. I loved the statement that according to the glycemic (sp?) index jelly beans are better for you than carrots. Where did that come from????

That guy was a clown! The jelly bean comment was great! He also said that we need to take responsibility for what we eat and stop blaming the foods. Whatever!!!

The bread guy was so pissed off, major attitude! It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The bread guy probably asked for the whole "story", the reporter even kind of razzed him it seemed like LOL.

The reporter razzed the bread lobbyist, because the reporter is an avid Atkins supporter. The guy lost a lot of weight and did a segment on Atkins a few years ago.

The bread lobbyist made enough of a "donkey" of himself that he might just have converted a few more bread eaters to low carb!!!!

I saw this segment and pretty much dismissed it. I'm sick of big businss lobbyists. This guy was trying to get bread to stay as the base of the food pyramid.

I then switched channels and watched Scientific American on losing weight. They followed several people trying to lose weight by a bunch of different plans. Unfortunately, the Atkins guy dropped out and the only ones with really good results were the gastric bypasses. LC may be a great way to lose weight, but it's not a panacea and a lot of people seem to fail on it. Probably boredom.

A thought on bread:
Since the pyramid has gone to mostly bread, the price of bread has skyrocketed (especially any bread that resembled healthy food, as in 100% whole wheat). Couple that with the wheat is SUBSIDIZED by you and I and someone please tell me (other than greed) why bread is so expensive?

Greed always gets angry when it is threatened. I still think there is a huge market for bread (as is the case with low carb bread, made with many of the same components).

Good news: Blue Bunny has REAL, LIVE YOGURT in a 6 oz container and it only has 5 grams of carbs. Dannon's "yogurt" is not really yogurt (but my raspberry was certainly tasty).
