Default newbie has question

Is this ok for what I ate today?

Lunch
Cheeseburger without bun
salad with lettuce, cucumbers, mushrooms, with bacon bits and bacon ranch dressing
Diet Sprite

One cup of coffee in the afternoon

Dinner
A ton of roast beef...like 5 or 6 or maybe 7 ibs ( i was STARVING, but i think i ate too much)
Another salad with plain tuna, bacon ranch dressing, a sprinkle of cheese, and acon bits
I'm considered i really overdid it at dinner on the roast beef...also will drinking one cup of coffee and 2 diet coke's really delay my weight loss? cuz these drinks get me through the day

7 lbs of roast beef?!!! That's like the size of a small tv set. Are you sure it was that much? I doubt you could fit that much in your stomach, and if so it's way too much protein. If it was from a deli, it might also have carbs in it as well. The rest of the food you ate sounds okay as long as the dressings are low-carb. Some people stall on diet soda and coffee, it all depends on the individual. Make sure you are drinking enough water on top of that and add some fat in without all the protein (cook in butter and oils). You can check your percentages by plugging everything in on www.fitday.com. Your calories should come out something like this for a typical day of low-carbing: 65-70% fat, 20-25% protein, 4-6% carbs

You should try and loose the soda and drink lots of water instead. Coffee is strongly discouraged on induction but many people have been successful without giving up their coffee. DRINK TONS of water. You can try the Crystal Geyser sparkling water -- it is very much like a soda without the artificial sweetner!

If you were *starving* at dinner, maybe try slowing down a bit and let your food hit bottom so you don't eat too much beef. The cravings go away soon.

Good Luck.

Karen

Congrats on starting. First off.....How much water are you drinking, I didn't see you list water intake. That's critical in my opinion. Also I would like to say that because you don't have that much to lose, the loss may be slow but don't let that discourage you, persistence does it. First off, you have to see if those diet drinks or coffee is affecting your loss. Try to limit your intake of diet coke, instead of 2, have 1. I myself have still not given up caffeine(which some people think hinders/stalls their loss) but everyone's body is different. You are to eat until satisfied not stuffed. So I'd watch it on that. Other vegetables, aside from the salad vegetables are allowed and you should have one cup of those. (see the acceptable food list) There's so many recipes and things that you can eat that will fill you up. A Low carb tortilla with your roast beef probably would have allowed you to eat less of it. They say you can have one per day on induction. La Tortilla factory is the best. Try getting some green beans, spinach, broccoli, etc. in your diet. Stay away from the Atkins products right now.(candy, ice cream, etc) Once again.....get that water in...! Overall though, it looks like you are on the right track. Hope this helps. I've done it about 3 weeks now(for real) and I've lost about 7pds. My loss is being noticed already so I don't feel too bad. A word of advice.....Change your mindset.....don't get discouraged if you don't drop 15 pounds in 2 weeks. It's really not about a quick fix, this is a lifestyle change.

You should try to watch the portions...eat slower...and perhaps eat 4-5 mini meals instead of 3 big ones. Thus, you won't overeat. Too much protein can be a problem...stalls out people....and adds lots of calories. Although you don't have to worry about calories per say, if you are going over 2000 constantly it may affect your weight loss. Watch the dairy too.

Do you eat breakfast? Or are you not a breakfast person? You should really try to eat something in the morning to get your metabolism going. I also agree with slim4life and Tapestry on the diet soda. Try to get away from it. After you get through the withdrawal of not having it, you might find that your body really doesn't need it to get through the day.

Could you try de-caf coffee and maybe a diet soda with splenda like Diet Rite or Waist Watcher. Otherwise you are probably doing ok as long as you are drinking water. Try a plate full of food and then drink about 16 oz. of water before going for seconds. I find water does fill me up.
