I read in the CAD book last night that you are not supposed to cut up your lettuce until the exact time that you are going to eat it. Does anyone know why?

Another question, in the weight gains and stallers list that's a sticky here by Zuleikaa, it says not to eat too much cheese. Does anyone know why?

Cheese has carbs and most importantly fat and too much has been known to stall people. CAD is lower fat than Atkins.

Re the lettuce--this was so the nutrients would not be lost. Lettuce and other veggies lose nutrients with sitting. Not really a concern given the amounts we eat and refrigeration.

Even on Atkins cheese is listed as a staller. For some any dairy can make things come to a stand still. I seem to do better with dairy on CAD then Atkins though.

If you cut the lettuce early you also may bruise it and have it go brown on you sooner. I love the convience of those prebagged salads because of that, but I get the romain heads because of price

Default Cheese & lettuce!

I find my lettuce is okay after chopping it up for a couple of days or so, so long as I don't toss the salad or add dressing.

I like to have a salad in the fridge for snacks, to try and cut back on the ridiculous amount of cheese I scoff down every week! Cheese also has lactose in it, which is a form of sugar.
