Default Blood donor day

I gave blood today, which I do regularly. When I went into the recovery area, I was confronted by tables of high carb snackipoos. Usually, I indulge in 4 or 5 packets of whatever they have and a sugared soda.

I felt the need for something as I was a bit dizzy. I had a decaf coffee and one pack of cookies (36 carbs). I guess that I won't stick the "cheat free" label on.

How do others handle donating blood? Are carbs necessary after losing a pint or do they just have high carb snacks because they are low cost?

PS: On the way home, I stopped at a grocery store and got some Kohlrabi. I had forgotten how good those taste.

I usually try to eat a regular LC meal as closely as possible before donating, and avoid their sweet juice. I always take along some cheese as it has some carbs for after. The coffee or tea would be fine.

Don't worry about the 'medicinal cookies'. You only had one package so perhaps the Whoosh Fairy will take it into account.
