Hey guys and gals,

Brand new to the low carb thing (just started today)...I have many questions, which will probably be answered during time...but I wanted to post my first days menu...see what ya'll think...

Breakfast - 7 strips of bacon, 3eggs (w/ 1/4 cup cheese)

Lunch - 4 chicken tenders (basicly smaller chicken breasts) Mozz cheese (4 slices) on top, small amout of Dijon mustard, and hot sauce

Dinner - taco meat - 1tb taco seasoning = 1.5 carbs, lettace (less then a cup) cheese, and 4 olives (1 carb total for olives). I also used some of this zero carb ranch dressing I found from Waden Farms (contains Sucralose)

I have also had 1 bottle of "Fruit H2O" and almost a gallon of water...

I really appreciate you guys looking over this and seeing if I'm on the right track....

Tomorrow's dinner will probably bring steak and a cup of broccolii (sp?) and carrot mixture steamed....

Thoughts!! Thanks in advance!

Try eating a little more salad with your meals. You can have up to 3 cups of lettuce a day or 2 cups lettuce and 1 cup of another exceptable veggie. Be careful with carrots though they are full of sugar and starch.

Thats one thing I plan on doing - what about broccolii steamed...?

What other veggies are good - I LOVE carrotts - would adding 2 or 3 sticks hurt?

Thanks so much for the reply!

Hi and welcome! It looks good so far. Like the boss lady said, try to throw in a few more veggies. They don't just have to be salad: you could have some celery, zucchini or peppers with ranch dip; or throw some spinach, mushrooms or tomatoes into an omelette at breakfast.

I love carrots, too, but I think they can spike your blood sugar. When I eat them, I tend to get really hungry a short time later. I would limit them and have them *with* other food to minimize the blood sugar impact.

Enjoy!

If you are doing the Atkins plan then I suggest getting the book. You have a few different plans to choose from. The rules are slightly different for them though. I think you should choose and try to stick with one. Atkins says that 2 cups of lettuce plus one cup measured of raw veggies. You can cook the veggies anyway you like after you have measured them.

Thanks for all the replys!! I think your right - I'll most likey nix the carrotts..for at least the first 2 weeks then wein them in somehow.

I am on Atkins - thinking of a lettace/broccoli/olive salad with some of that No carb ranch I found...then maybe some steamed broccoli with cheese for dinner...

I will look into the book for sure...just wanted to see what you'all thought about the first day!!

Good luck to all!! And thanks again!!

Hey Jason and welcome!
You may want to think about starting a journal. It is a great place to track your own progress and for others to come and visit and offer their support.

Best of luck,
Linda
