Hi there,
You made an interesting observation. I too was surprised not to be overjoyed at reaching my goal weight.
Let me share this story with you and make an observation later on: At some point as I was shedding pounds, I decided I better have a stopping point. I arrived at my goal weight by using a Body Mass Index (BMI) website. I figured that the middle of the "normal" BMI range for my height would be my goal weight.
Well, I got there a couple of weeks ago. I still have a little paunch and love handles, and there's no hint of a 'sixpack stomach'. So what now? I guess I'll need to revise the goal to suit my expectations, rather than some chart.
So here's my philosophical thought: The scale is just a gauge or measuring stick for something we are *really* seeking, whether it's improved health, appearance, or self-image. For me, the true exhiliration wasn't about hitting a target weight. It has been taking back control of my body, feeling better, and looking better.
