Unhappy Do I have this much patience?

I just started on Atkins. Today. I won't even begin on the caffeine cravings. Just won't go there. Since I don't know what my metabolism is going to be like yet, I'm anticipating a year to lose the 120 or so pounds that I would like to lose. My DH only needs to shed 40 pounds. I hope I have the will power and patience to get through this year. I'm sure I will once the pounds and INCHES start coming off.

Thanks ahead of time for being there for me!

Welcome and good luck with your weight loss. I promise, the cravings will go away soon and you will feel much better. The first few days can be really tough, but once you get past them and your body is cleaned out of the yucky stuff you will feel so much better. I lived off of Diet Dr. Pepper before Atkins and now I drink over 1 gallon of water a day and LIKE IT! Have fun and best to you and your husband.

Welcome, Caliber. It really does get easier as you progress through the first few weeks. I had piles of chocolate around me at Christmas and it didn't even talk to me at all. First time that has happened to me and I hope it happens to you really soon!

Welcome to the board Lisa! And welcome to Atkins!!! I know EXACTLY how you feel. I am on day 3 of induction and I can honestly say, it really does get better. Yesterday was the worste for me. I craved chocolate, coffee, potatoes...LOL...hell everything I couldn't have!! On top of all that I had a god awful headache from the time I awoke to the time I went to sleep. This morning I woke up with tons of energy and I feel like a million bucks. I can't say for sure that my 'cravings' are gone but this morning, I haven't been plagued with any and being that I have drunk atleast 3 cups of coffee every morning for the past four years, I'd say its a good sign! (I am giving up coffee altogether!)
Hang in there and weather the storm. I promise the tides will calm !!!

I hope you find as much encouragement and support from this board as I have!!

Best Wishes!!

Amber

Stick it out the first week or so on strict induction and things will get much better for you after that. Good luck!

Welcome. It might take you a lot longer than a year...dont let it discourage you though because this will need to become your way of Life if you want to keep it off anyway so it's just 1 day at a time and we are all here to help when things are bad...

Welcome aboard! It was tough for me the first few weeks - everyone will say the same- but trust me it's gets so much easier the longer you stick with it. You can't find a simpler diet to follow and my appetite has become almost nil.

By the way I still drink caffeinated diet soda - a no-no on atkins I suppose but I'm tapering off.

Good luck!!!

I drink Diet Coke like a fish, and have since I started. If it's slowing me down, it hasn't by much. (At least up to the Great Plateau I hit in December).
