Default Who are they trying to kid???

I was doing a google search on low carb menu planning, and ran across this so-called 'healthy low carb' plan. It looks like nothing more than low fat, low calorie with a little extra protein thrown in...

http://www.ivillage.com/diet/expert..._223035,00.html

Since when does a meal of low fat cottage cheese mixed with applesauce, served with a piece of toast scraped with a little margarine qualify as low carb???

It wouldn't seem so, but not all low-carb plans are the same when it comes to carbs. I guess to stretch it, compared to a pancake breakfast, it would be low carb???

I have trouble with it because of the orange juice, all teh flour tortillas, english muffins, etc...

To be fair, though... if someone looked at my daily menu while on CAD, it would sure look worse than that!

Well, yes, I guess in the context of a pancake breakfast, or a hamburger/fries/real coke lunch, it's lower carb and healthier at that.

On the introduction page, they state that all meals and snacks are less than 50% carb. I know I'd only last about a week on the ivillage diet before being overwhelmed by cravings and scarfing down a box of cookies or ice cream, just like I did after my two weeks of weight watchers and three weeks of Richard Simmons, and countless similar diet plans

They have to be kidding! Bananas, hummus, bread, bagels, LOW FAT milk and dressings (did these people even check to see how many carbs are in low fat crap?). Those menus I just checked out look like the low calorie, low fat menus I saw for years but LOW CARB - I think they are totally nuts to call it low carb.

Bananas? Flour tortillas? I'm getting the sugar shakes just reading that page.

I have a new motto: never trust a dietician to plan your diet.

Potatofree, you may be eating a lot of carbs, but at least CAD still incorporates the concept of blood sugar control.
