Default Atkins is a winner!

I just wanted to say to some who are thinking about doing atkins that it really works and is not difficult to follow. I was an avid candy and cookie eater, I ate the worst stuff, tons of bread and sugary cereals and pasta. Then the doctor says diabetes and perspectives shift. Now after doing atkins for about 5 weeks I have lost 13 lbs. and look and feel smaller. I eat very well with no hunger. I have to start excercising. I bought some atkins breads, roasted almonds, and slim jims. The giant slim jims have just 1 carb of sugar. The roasted almonds have 2 carbs(including 1 for sugar) per 30g. I only have the nuts 1 or 2 times a week. This diet is EASY. I look foward to this summer when I expect to be half the man I was! Well almost

I've also found that this diet is easier than I expected, especially since the carb cravings have subsided. I am on induction and just starting out so just waiting for the pounds to drop!

I, too, am a believer of this WOL. So many of my friends say things like "I would never beable to give up bread" or "it's not healthy to only eat protein". What they don't realize is that it's not just a "protein" diet and that there is such a thing as "good carbs" and "bad carbs". Although I'm just starting out on induction, I've done Atkins before, and it's the only WOE that actually works for me and makes me feel healthy.

I'm thankful for all the great recipes in the recipe section of this forum. there are some really good, tasty, quick-to-make dishes that I wouldn't have thought of by myself and that aren't in DANDR. They've made this WOE so much easier and enjoyable.

I think if we'd been raised on lc carb meals and treats we'd think eating doughnuts and bread was weird. I'm just retraining my brain to think differently and it's working great. I love stuff like fried pepperoni with sour cream for a snack. And my sweet tooth can eat a Mock Danish and feel just as good as a doughnut does to a non lcarber!
