Nope, that's not a lot, and yep, it's perfectly normal. Our hormones get a little whacky and start hanging onto water. Just keep at it, and by the time you finish you'll be right back down and maybe more.

My oldest daughter was completely discouraged her first week of Atkins because all week long she didn't lose an ounce. Finally, it dawned on her it was TOM. When it ended, *poof* overnight, she was down 5 pounds.

Xena, don't you usually gain weight during TOM ? Atkins or not, that is a prime time for water weight gain. Maybe you are just more aware of it now because you are weighing yourself more often. I have always gained 2-3 pounds in the days leading up to my TOM and always look forward to their disappearing right afterwards! Never sweat 2 or three pounds.

LilaCotton, how old are your daughters? My 15 yr old is on Atkins (or just low carbing as she prefers we say) and is loosing soooooo slowly it is discouraging to her. Any advise from you or your daughters on this?

Me too! I don't go near the scale until it is completely over.
