Unhappy Having trouble at school...

Hi, i'm new to this web site but i have been doing low carb off and on for over 2 years. The problem is i'm only 15, i know people say kids shouldn't diet but i'm not doing it to lose a bunch of weight, just trying to maintain what i lost over the summer. My parents know about and support it, in fact my mom is also on the diet and she got me into it but only because her and i think it's a health way to eat. However, i'm having trouble eating low carb at school because our school lunchs are terrible but i want to eat something because i know it's not good to skip meals. I try to take a bar to eat from home but recently found out it has quite a few "hidden carbs" so i don't know what to do about it! Does anyone have any ideas or tips? Thanks a million!!! Can you take a sack lunch? There are many, many options of things you can pack. I'm glad you have the support and guidance from your Mom, best of luck to you

It would be wise to take your own lunch if you can.
It might be better for you not to think of this as a "diet" but more as just the way you eat. Then all your freinds will just say "Oh, she's just a picky eater"

Good going Nash!! You might help other kids to get on the bandwagon.
Try taking a small salad with or without diced meat in it; ham & cheese roll-ups; boiled eggs; stuffed celery; leftover grilled chicken; cheese sticks; etc.
Let your mind run. If you can walk around the house with it, you can take it to school with you.
I agree with you about the school lunches. I don't know how the school districts can pay someone to make up those awful lunch menus. Most are truly disgusting.

Nash, I'm a teacher and in full sympathy with what you're saying about school lunches. I keep a small refrigerator in my classroom and bring my lunch daily. I imagine some of your teachers also have classroom refrigerators. I'd certainly be willing to share refrigerator space with any student who asked for a place to store her/his lunch--look into that.
