Default Itchy Spots

I have been on low carbs (almost none) for 2 weeks now. I am developing itchy red bloches on my arm. They almost look like bug bites. Anyone know what they might be from?

Bugs, maybe?

Sorry couldnt resist

Hi and Welcome Steph. Sorry to hear you've got a problem. I had never heard of a rash as a side effect of LC, however when I typed it into the search function at the top of this page, I found a number of threads that might be able to help.

It looks like its probably a food allergy to something new you're eating, or something you're eating too much of. I once had a bad reaction to some mineral supplements I was taking, have you started anything new in the last little while?

You might want to post what you've been eating under the "journals/bootcamp' section of the forum. That way we could look for a common culprit.

Best of luck and I hope things clear up,
Nat

Default me too..

i don't have a rash..but my right hip, towards the abs is VERY very itchy... i sort of remember getting it before lowcarbing though (so i don't think it's from lowcarbing), but i didn't think it could be from a food allergy as i didn't think i was allergic to anything.. One time both sides of my hips were soo itchy it drove me crazy. However there's no sign of rash, or bumps or anything..
I've been putting calamine lotion to cool it off.. b/c i'm going to damage my skin if i scratch anymore!..

A localized rash or itchiness like that might be from some kind of contact allergy rather than food. Are you wearing anything new like new undies or pantyhose? Sometimes people can be allergic or sensitive to the elastic in those. Have you changed laundry detergents recently? New soap or lotion?
