Thought I'd mention that for the first time ever on this site I'm getting pop up spy ware while posting in my journal, I hope this is not going to be a trend, is there anything the Tech's can do about it? I have always thought it was a safe site for that sort of junk stuff

I had been no where else, just started the computer up and went to my threads
Then that annoying window started to pop up ?

It's very likely your computer has some "spyware" from downloaded software or other sites you have visited. Download Adaware Utility to clean up any spyware. It works!

There are no pop-ups originating from our site. Only occasionally, Atkins.com selects our site to run a temporary pop-up ad, and this is only done by agreement with our webmaster to ensure that it's legit, and lowcarb-related.

Do you remember where the pop-up was from .. url or site name??

Hello all I remember was it was Gator??

We have a good program to block them but, we'll have to update I guess as this one got thru.

Yep, Gator is confirmed spyware. In fact, you might not even have to download anything in order for it to install itself on your computer There's more information about Gator's nasty habits here .. http://www.cexx.org/gator.htm

If you guys wanna clean out your system, theres a free program out there called SPYBOT. I installed it after it was recommended to me. Worked so well I uninstalled my pop up blockers, yes thats plural. I was running 2 blockers as i was being attacked. Go to Google and do a search on: spybotsd12.exe

It worked so well I went back and made a donation to them!

Thanks Manny I am going to check that out. The gator thing keeps messing with everything I do!!! So annoying.
