I agree with many of the above. You can't let your WOE get in the way of friendship.
Everyone is entitiled to their own opinion and you can't force your opinion on someone else.

Besides which, WW does work for a lot of people. There is nothing WRONG with it, it is just the opposite of low-carbing.

I personally lost over 50 lbs doing a low-fat diet.

You guys are a HOOT! Between licking the plate clean (thanks, Neener), to picturing her with the Borg, you guys are too funny. I promise I am encouraging her with WW, and absolutely will not bash WW while she is giving it a try. But, she did ask me how I lost my weight, and did seem interested, so it just feels funny that she is doing the complete opposite of what I am doing. Thanks for all your thoughts!

There is a large group of people at work that do WW. They are for the most part very sucessful. They look good and appear happy with the way they are going about it. It doesnt look like much fun to me, but I can't argue with their sucess. There are also alot of low carbers, some of which are not that sucessful, but I have lost more weight than anyone. Very few people tell me that low carb is unhealthy anymore.

This should be true... but I have one friend who is totally suspicious of Atkins. The last time I spoke with him I told him I had just picked up lunch from Carl's Jr. His response was "oh please, tell me what you got at Carl's Jr. that YOU can eat." I told him I got a grilled chicken sandwich and a side salad, and that the roll was going in the trash. At this he once again told me that my cholesterol is going to skyrocket because I am on Atkins. All of my other friends and coworkers have been extremely supportive... except for him. Now I'm at the point where I just don't want to return his calls.

One of my best friends lost 60 pounds or so in a year on weight watchers with their point system and limited portion sizes, and he was thrilled with the results. FWIW, I lost the same amount in about 4 months eating to my heart's content. Different strokes for different folks.

However, one common denominator that I have noticed among all successful dieters is that your heart must be in it. Even if it is the perfect plan for you, you have to want to do it. In other words, unless your friend makes up her mind that atkins is THE way to go for her, then there's no point in arguing about it. If WW works for her, great. If not, then she'll be all that more solid to give atkins a shot.

I have a friend that is doing WW. We just comment on how great eachother looks ( although she always appears to be hungry, to me ). We discuss our diets just enough to not get into a girly, hair pullin' fight.
