Default Can we go over the yogurt thing one more time?

I know I read that plain, full fat, no-sugar added yogurt is ok on this WOE......so here's what I did for a little breakfast variety......
I took:
3/4 c. Organic Plain Regular Yogurt
1/4 c. LC milk
3 Strawberries
2 tbsp (about 20) Blueberries
1 pkt. Splenda
and I whipped the heck out of it in the blender..........OMG!!!! It was thick, creamy and just YUMMY!!!!
Now, here's my question:
Since the yogurt container said 13 carbs per cup (-3 fiber)......is it really necessary to count them or are those carbs consumed by the live cultures?? I'm sure this whole concoction was a killer - carb wise - but it really was awesome!

I always count the carbs in the yogurt I eat. I'm eating between 20-30 carbs a day so it is possible to have yogurt and stay true to this level.

There is some controversy about how much carb is consumed by the yogurt cultures. If you don't have much leeway in your carb counts, it can take a big chunk.
I've had the full fat, no sugar yogurt a couple times a week, it's great with berries, and I haven't noticed it hurting me any. But then I'm at a 40 carb a day level, so it doesn't take as big a bite out of my daily total.

I still have not been able to find the yogurt that I can eat. All we have around here it the stupid low fat crap! Is there a specific brand you guys buy? I am going to have to have the health food store lady order me some I think. I have tried to stay out of there as much as possible, only go once a month, because I cannot leave without spending less than $100 for a bag (or sometimes two) of stuff...

I buy the Blue Bunny Lite85, it's made with Splenda. I have 2-3 small containers a day. I'm not sure why, but it has actually sped up my weight loss. Wish someone would do an actual study to see how the carb count is broken down. I've done a search on the yogurt subject here and I've found some pretty good discussions!

Thanks for the information. I think the super walmart carries blue bunny. I was not aware of the carb issue with yogurt, thanks for the link, I learned alot from it. will still look for the lower carb stuff, but will be less scared of it when I try it, I didn't understand how they figured it.

I always count all the carb sin yogurt, and rarely have more then 1/2 cup.

Goats Milk Yogurt only has about 8g carb per cup.
StoneyField Farm Plain has around 12 net carbs per cup
And MountainHigh Has about 14 net carbs per cup

The mountainHigh can be found at Albertson's and the Safeway here carries both mountain high and the StoneyField Farms. The goat's milk yogurt I cna only find at health food stores such as the Vitamin Cottage and Wild Oats.

Stonefield Farms makes a full fat plain yogurt that I add berries or sugar free jelly to.

Hi all. Hate to rain on the parade, but after you read the lowcarbluxury article, be sure to check out this thread: The Truth about carbs in YOGURT Yogurt is still a great food, it's just not a freebie and if you're trying to be careful, I'd err on the side of caution and count the carbs as stated on the label.

Yogurt is very healthy and has it's place however you must count ALL THE CARBS as listed - there is no magic carb eating phenomenon going on.

I wrote to the Atkins Center and specifically asked this question, and they indicated that all yogurt carbs should be counted.

The goal is therefore to find something you like that is not too high in carbs: preferably full fat. I am in Canada (Ontario) and have found the Liberty Meditaranee Brand to be the best with 10% fat and only 8 carbs per cup. I have it a few times a week mixed w/sf raspberry or vanilly syrup.

In may case while it does taste very yummy, it does not seem to do anything for my weight loss...oh well.
