Default CKD Question

OK

I understand that you can do CKD in about 12 week periods... what do you after those 12 weeks are over? and when can you start a new cycle after the 12 weeks?

thanks

korry,
from the book Body Opus, the author recommends after you go through a 12 to 20 wk cycle, to take 2 wks off from this diet, sort of like a recharge for your body. After that you can restart another 12 - 20 wk cycle if desired. Since the diet was geared towards bodybuilders who wanted to get shredded for a competition, there isn't a standard maintenance diet that follows. Most would go back to an off-season way of eating or back to a muscle-gain phase. With that in mind, you can pick and choose what you would like to do as far as maintaining your desired weight.

HTH Good Luck....

It has been said by a few fellow "Bodyopusers" that after the competition or event that you are cutting up for, a mass gaining period is ideal. That alone will stimulate some great growth just by moving from one end of the spectrum to the other (cutting to mass gaining). And we have seen some pretty impressive gains as well.

Ok...

So, after 12 weeks I can take a 1 week or 2 weeks off the diet and then go for mass-building...

Thanks

Yep. In fact, you'll be surprised at how receptive your body is to gaining weight after 12 weeks of a restricted diet. It's almost as if your body plans retalliation! LOL.

Cool...

I have never tried a CKD diet... I am going to start one, once I get a gym membership and lift consistently... I got a major exam next month and have to focus for that goal right now... I weight about 161 lbs LBW (196 Total LBs) I wonder how much LBW I can pack on during the MASS phase. I also saw your other post on the carb up days. Just out of curiousity for the MASS up phase one would do the LF style diet, right? and what would you reccomend, on your personal experience, what the daily carb intake should be on a MASS up phase?

Thanks for all the advice,
Korry

As far as how much LBM you can pick up on the mass phase, it really depends on how long you do mass train, how your diet is, how many calories you're intaking, your activity level, your activity type and on and on it goes. Now, I assume when you say "mass gain" you are interested in bulking up at a rate where you won't mind a little fat gain as well. You want strength to go up as well as overall body weight (some people have a little different definition of mass training, but this is the most common). I would take your maintenance calorie level and add about 20% to it. Make this your daily caloric intake. For me personally, I LOVE the Iso-caloric diet ratios for mass gaining, which are 33% carbs/33% protein/33%fat. If you want me to discuss why, or have some questions about the science and logic, LMK I can go into more depth if you want. I believe that answers your current questions...if you have others, feel free to drop them here
