Default delicate question-women only

I hope nobody minds me asking this question HERE but you all are my only Atkin buddies and I just have to ask. Sorry if this is too gross BUT-for all of us women on Atkins-has anyone else notices a feminine odor since they started the diet??? Ive never had such a problem before and wonder if I should blame it on the diet OR something else. Im healthy otherwise and have no other complaints. Anyone else with this or notice this AND what to do about it??

Again, sorry if this is too gross a question for this forum but I had to ask, L

Your urine will carry an odor if you are in ketosis.

I agree with aimee, that's what a lot of people have mentioned before, along with "ketosis breath".

Lory, you're not crazy. I've noticed the same thing. I think it's a by-product of the ketosis-smelly urine. Thanks for asking the question I was too chicken to bring up!

If it's not the urine smelling - you may want to check it out to rule out a possible yeast infection!

Good luck.

If the odor is definitely vaginal then I'd suspect a possible infection. You should have it checked out. Taking care of it as soon as possible is best. If it is only from the ketones in your urine (gosh don't I know that one!) then it is to be expected while in ketosis.

You are definitely in ketosis. I asked the same question, a few weeks back, and was told this. I bought some feminine spray, and that seems to do the trick. BTW, there is no such thing as a gross question, here on this message board. I have seen quite a few things here, that I thought I would never see, but the question always gets answered.....so feel free to ask away.

You are most likely smelling ketones. They give off a sweet/strong Acetone smell that can knock you off the toilet if spilling alot of ketones. Yeast has a sweet smell, but also itches like mad. Bacterial Vaginosis smells like funky fish.
If you drop out of ketosis the smell goes away. I'd rather deal with the odor and know it means losing weight.

Ok.. ok I am gonna add something here. Maybe someone can answer this as well. I believe LorynJohn was not referring to this, but wanted to ask since on the subject. Talk about gross here I go...
It appears I have 2 TOM's now. I don't have that odor (I think!) However, when TOM arrives that ordor is much much more. I am always taking baths. Anyway, could this be due to ketosis as well?

I think so. I think the smell goes along w/ ketosis. I just had my first TOM in ketosis and noticed it was stronger smelling than usual. My midwife used to say that if something smells "foul" then it's probably an infection. But this odor is just musky or earthy, not that rotten fish smell.

Talking about yeast infections... I haven't had ONE since LC. I can't believe I hadn't notice it until now, but then, It's not like I miss them or anything .

As for the smell, I agree with the ketone theory. Drink tons of water and the smell should dimish.

Well...I'm in ketosis...and I've had a chronic yeast infection for years (without knowing it...) and every time I use the restroom, my husband makes me spray it with a strong air freshener!!!

And...I drink a LOT of water!!!
