When I went away to school, I lost weight, grew my hair out, and wore contact lenses. I didn't recognize myself in the mirror. I really had a hard time adjusting when my guy buddies referred to me as "hot". It was wierd. I actually started wearing baggy clothes and no make up because of it. Strange how I thought I wanted to be attractive, but turned out to be afraid of it. I think I liked being a nerd better.

Anyway... "Rice boi?!" Shouldn't that be "grated-fried-cauliflower boi?

truetrue... i can relate hehe... i still consider myself extremely geeky/nerdy since i am obsessed with electronic gadgets and computers (i'm majoring in computer science)... sooo am i a semi-hot-geek? lol! sometimes i like the attention, sometimes i don't, but either way, it's win-win since we've lost weight right? especially for our health! health=no.1!

rice_boi since that's how i gained weight in the first place hehe...

They are going to have to lock me up once I hit 130, I'm going to be one hell of a flirt.

lol! when you hit 130, time to change your username to FLIRTATIOUSLCer hehe

Later on, after I lost weight, they looked even more and it was interesting, to say the least. I still didn't date a lot. I had one steady (ended up engaged) boyfriend for nine months, but when that broke off I was so crushed I didn't even want to look at another guy. I put all my energy into losing even more weight. Eventually, my DH decided he could finally date me (I'd known him my WHOLE life). That didn't go over very well, though, because that was just a few months after my major break-up and I was still just devastated. We eventually got back together about a year-and-a-half later.

Ah, but I digress! It seemed that most of the guys who did look at me, fat or thin, we absolutely NOT the kind of guys I really wanted to date.

Rice-Boi, muscles or no, you would strike me just from looks as being the kind of guy I would've dated because you seem like a real sweetheart.

oh my gosh... *BLUSHES* really? i just hope this girl i'm sort of seeing (one of my bestfriends) thinks the same way... but i'm keeping my options open... anyone here single? hehe

to emphasize what i posted earlier in this thread ... so i`ve learned (at 21 years of age hehe)... hotness is no substitute for a great personality...

Rice Boi, I probably should've said earlier, I've always had a special fondness for geeks. My DH of 19 years is the king of geekdom. He never has been, nor will he ever be a 'good looking' guy, only in his dreams! But he has such a great personality it more than makes up for it!

I hope everything works out between you and your best friend. When it's all said and done (speaking from experience here!) years down the road, friendship is the #1 important thing in a good relationship. DH and I always try to spend some time alone together every week. Sometimes it's a romantic date, and sometimes it's just plain old best friend time. We had one of those best friend times this evening and it was great! We went and had dinner, then picked up a few groceries. Sounds boring, huh? NOT!

lol! don't be so harsh on your hubby i'll bet you're overlooking his exterior beauty since his personality clearly dominates... i'm sure he can be "hot" in one form or another ...

i never thought i could be HOT again (i was considered hot when i was still swimming for my school... i guess some girls dig watching half-naked athletes lol!)... but now i'm gaining a little confidence, i get a lot of stares when walking around school now (especially looking at my pecs now i know how women feel when men oogle at their cleavage... kinda flattered and kinda wierded out at times hehe)

the going for dinner and picking up groceries i can totally relate to hehe.. i helped my bestfriend out since she didn't have a car and had to carry a heck load of groceries for 2km
