Default Eat more vegetables?

Is it okay to eat more vegetables than is recommended by Dr. Atkins? Also is it okay to eat more veggies on induction than what is allowed?

I think that you should eat the 3 cups salad/ 2 cups salad 1 cup vegies on induction if you want to lose the most weight but after that count your carbs and keep them below 20. This worked for me.

I began Atkins with help from the Atkins site and I don't recall specific amounts of veggies listed. I do recall reading a big list of allowable vegetables and the carbs they contained. I ate my favorites veggies from the list and kept my carbs under 20 grams per day. I also did not worry if I was in ketosis or not. Now I am approaching pre-maintenance and I eat a low carb diet without counting carbs. Not because I think counting carbs is unnecessary, I just have a pretty good idea of how many carbs I am consuming.

I sort of eyeballed it, honestly. During the first couple weeks, I got so paranoid about veggies... but really... it's just lettuce. And it's only like .3 carbs/cup for it. I stayed between 15-20 carbs/day... and some days I'd have 3-6 cups of lettuce... and sometimes a little cucumber in there... a pickle here or there... or steamed broccoli with dinner. I don't think you can hurt yourself with veggies, but keep in mind that your best friend is something like bacon or beef. If you're gonna splurge and have a cup of broccoli with dinner, put butter all over it and you better get cheese on that burger. Remember to keep your fat ratio up up up!!
