Default Tonight's Japanese sushi dinner, Wow!

Hi Folks

I just made a japanese sushi dinner. Wow, it was so good, and I'm sooo stuffed!

I made california or (Nori) rolls, with cucumber, avacado, shrimp, crab, ahi tuna, and sockeye salmon. I didn't miss the rice one bit. I made our teenagers regular ones with sticky rice and they were trying to comandeer ours...

I also made soup with sausage, miso, chicken broth, wakame seaweed, daikon radish, and grated zucinni.

Both recipes I adapted from the Karen's recipes.

For the sushi rolls I did them with the veges, then crab or shimp, and laid the tuna or salmon on top. I served them with picked ginger (sugar free, in aspartame) wasabi, and soy sauce.

For any of you sushi lovers out there, try it, it's easy, and so good!

Maggie

That sounds fabulous. My son has been nagging at me to make sushi but I have been in no great rush to do so since I didn't really think I could eat it.

How was the soup and where did you get the daikon radish?

Can I assume if I do a search for sushi I will find Karen's recipes?

Hi Jennifer

The soup was great, we're having the rest for lunch.

I followed the instructions on the Nori package, as to how to prepare it.

I used, a cup or crab, mixed with some mayo, same for the shrimp; an avacado cut into small slices, cucumber, and thinly sliced ahi tuna and salmon. The fish was prefrozen (recommended because of possible parasites).

I spread everything on the Nori paper and rolled up. They were so good!

I made the kids ones with sticky rice...

Have fun with them. You can basically used anything you want. I may not spring for the price of the tuna next time, but the salmon was great..

I bought the daikon at Extra Foods. Ask the grocery clerk if you don't see it. It's a long, fat, white root...

Maggie

Daikon radish is also known as Lo Bok, ask your vegetable person at any large-ish grocery store, and you can do a Search with those two names here as well, there's a whole long thread about it in the Kitchen forum, including pictures! Great stuff.

Karen's fabulous gourmet recipes are ALWAYS available very quickly, just click on the Low Carb Recipes link on the orange menu bar above.
