Rachelle, deprivation is a sorry excuse not to do controlled carb! Tell him he can have everything he likes now but only in a controlled carb version:

french fries - slice up a low carb root veggie into sticks and fry and season them
colas - splenda sweetened drinks... taste just like the real thing to me. but, tell him after a while he wont even WANT colas! I was the biggest fruit drink consumer (it was like i had a glucose drip hooked up to my mouth from a straw lol) and now they just taste like syrups too me, blech.
bagels - they make controlled carb bread substitutes everywhere. or he can bake them himself.

controlling carbs is about health not about depriving yourself to lose weight. the weight loss is something that naturally follows the good health.

Hey ItsTheWooo... you sound like me... but as we all know ... that is a decision you need to make for yourself... if he does decide to do the lc thing... he will have to make those decisions for himself.. food choices, ect.

If i could tell him... look at me I love splenda... he goes... Look at me.. I love sugar..

Little by little he is seeing that this isn't a diet for me but a WOL... and he is seeing me enjoy my food choices.. and not dreading to eat little rice cakes...

He knows the choices between low carb food and "his" food...

I just don't want him to change for me... but for himself.

Thank you everyone for sharing in my excitement about the "little" things

This is Larry (rachelle's boyfriend) thank all you guys for the support you give rachelle! so to say thanks - here's the recipe:
p.s. i didnt use bacon or ginger, i substituted rosemary for the ginger.

Sour Cream Chicken - (mmmmmmmm!)

Ingredients:

6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
12 pcs bacon
2 cups sour cream
1/4 cup heavy cream
4 Tablespoons soy sauce
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
Salt and pepper to taste
3 Tablespoons butter
Preheat oven to 325°F.

Melt butter and distribute across the bottom and sides of a Corning or Pyrex casserole dish. Lightly fry bacon until partially done – not crisp. Wrap two pieces of pliable bacon around each chicken breast and arrange them in the baking dish.

In small bowl mix sour cream, cream, soy sauce, and ginger. Pour over chicken, salt and pepper top as you like, and bake in 325°F oven for two hours –– the first hour foil or lid-covered and then uncover for the second half of the cooking time.

Serves 3. 4 carbs per serving.

(i also only used 4 chicken brests - so i scaled down the ingredients)

Rachelle
This really isn't a "little" thing. This is a big thing. To have a partner that is not only willing to NOT put you down for your choices of eating but to also be willing to go out of his way to help you. He is very special. That is a great way for him to show you he cares.

Don't get me wrong, my DH is very supportive, even does the dishes. BUT ever cook, no way. However I am gratefull that he helps with dishes. I had no idea how many more dishes LC causes me to use. LOL

Deana

As we all seem to agree, you have a great partner. Congrates.

Yes, we men do tend to get very proud when we know we have done well. If only we had a tail to wag we would be complete!

I am glad your boyfriend has decided to join you. Surprising you with a lc meal as a way to tell you must have been so sweet.

My husband and I started induction last week together (a week ago Tuesday). I find it so much easier to do it with someone in the same household. I think I would go nuts if he was eating one thing and me another..and also having all the tempting food around in the house.

I guess I have it good to while I was reading the posts..he does almost all the cooking. He just makes me look through all the forums and find him recipes. Also, he hasn't read the atkins books. That was my job..laugh. I had to tell him everything about it. I try to find online bits and pieces of atkins and just send them to him. Surprising he actually is reading them.

Good Luck Rachelle! I hope now your boyfriend will continue lc with you.

Kathy
