Question Atkins/Fitday percentages regarding food

Okay, I asked my question about the activity percentages... and now I have a question about food percentages. I would look it up myself in my atkins book, however, I lent it out to a friend and never received it back and she was only here for the summer.

Anyway, what should the percentages be regarding the FAT/CARB/PROTEINS that you intake in a day? I know the carbs should be very low, but what about the other two? My fat is OFF THE CHART and I don't feel I have eaten an excessive amout. If someone actually knows how this is broken down into grams (like so much of what) I would love that info too!

Thanks,
Carrie Ann

Most people try to follow the 70/5/20 ratio.

Okay, last question, for the slow people like me...
70% fat?
5% carbs?
20% protein?
Thanks for the clarification.... that just seems like a lot of fat!

Yes, Yes and Yes.

It does seem like a lot of fat. However, I follow pretty close to those ratios and pretty much all of my weight I've lost so far has been fat.

Carrie Ann
Look around and check out some people's journals and fitdays. I had to do that because I couldn't believe that eating 70% fat would allow me to lose weight (fat). But after investigating and then implementing I found that I lose best when my fat percentage is around 70%.
Of course later as you increase your carb intake you will decrease your fat intake.

Good luck to you!

CarrieAnn,

you percentages should look like this:

65-70% Fat
25-30% protein
5-10% carbs (20 grams)

important: You have to eat fiber. About 15 to 25 grams a day.
remember to sustract your fiber intake from the total carbs, and that will give you your net carbs consumed/day.

Example:

40 gms of carbs - 20 gms of fiber = 20 net carbs.

If you want, I envite you to ckeeck my journal to see the percentages Ihave entered.

Very important that you have more than 1600 calories /day. This way your body won't go into starvation mode.

Take care.
