Red face Stranger in a strange land

I am a newcomer. A newcomer to this forum, and a newcomer to the concept of NO caffeine (gasp, sputter, cough) and no sugar (oh god, I think I'm going to faint). I am kissing Red Bulls goodbye. I am kissing goodbye a whole lot of things (which I won't mention here because I don’t want to torture anyone talking about yummy carbie things). Perhaps most people on this site are over the carb cravings already, and it is just little (big) ol' me jonesing for some CENSORED right now.

So, I came to this place by recommendation of my friend Jasmine, who also turned me unto the Atkins diet. She has been doing it successfully for a few weeks now, and I have finally decided I was ready to give it a try (as I am finding my funky groovy collection of jeans aren’t fitting anymore, and I don’t want to keep gaining weight).

I expect I will be howling in anguish shortly from withdrawals, so I might not be around much for the next few days. I will do my best not to kill my cats or anyone who foolishly gets in my path during this trying time to come. Wish me luck!

Allene

Hi! Welcome to the forum. I won't waste your time by telling you that the first few days of induction is easy. For me it wasn't. I can tell you that it will get better and you will be amazed at how much the cravings lessen. Join us here for support and advice when you need it and I do wish you the very best of luck!

Welcome!

My absolute favorite part (or at least one of my favorites) of this way of eating is the way those cravings just *poof* disappear by the 3rd or 4th day... once you make it there, you'll never look back

Lots of luck, and feel free to hop on the forum and moan away - it's a great place for support & tips.

Starting a journal is great - really helpful - and if you haven't found it yet, I love Fitday (www.fitday.com), a free site which lets you enter what you're eating and track your carbs and everything else...
