Angry Binge Alert

[COLOR=DarkSlateBlue]I am so pissed off at myself I have been doing pretty good and have lost a total of 10lbs. But, today I don't know what happened I had a can of pop at lunch (which I haven't had in a month) and I just devoured a bag of chips in a matter of minutes. Now, I am in full binge mode --- thank god I am going to a out tonight (where they won't be serving food)! Or else I would be hitting the candy isle at Safeway. I just need some words of encouragement to get back on track tomorrow...I guess I am feeling a little depressed and then I start to e cry at when I am depressed.. [FONT=Book Antiqua]

Poopie, Poopie (cute name!).... Today is history. Just get up tomorrow and start fresh. You didn't do much damage... keep it that way. Today I had pizza for the first time in 2 months. Tomorrow I'm back on plan. See how much that sugar affects you? It's some nasty stuff! keep your chin up, wake up tomorrow, put a smile on your face even if you feel like crying and GO FOR IT! You can do it!

Default Hi Poopie

Hi Poopie.....I hope you will start over Friday morning. It took a lot for you to lose that 10 lbs. Take this as a learning experience and try to clear your home or ofc of all the junk food. It is easier if you dont have so many temptations around. How bout trying a handful of macadamia nuts? They give you something to crunch on and are low carb. Good Luck Poopie!

One thing to examine, is why did you have the can of pop? I'm assuming it was full sugar kind since it set off triggers. Was there nothing else to drink, was it to much of a temptation?

Remember this is a WOL and while sometimes you can be flexable, there are some things that you will probably never be able to eat without problems. I don't think there is any diet be it low carb, low fat, low cal, that lets you dirnk regular pop because the stuff is just so toxic sugar/calorie/acid ect ect wise.

Look into getting some Diet Rite for your cravings for soda. Learn to drink alot more water as well, saving the diet soda for treats.

If it was a diet soda with no sugar, did it contain asperteme? It could be that you react to asperteme as if it was real sugar. It could also be the caffine in the soda triggered a blood sugar response.

In any case it is obvious that soda is a trigger food for you. Lesson learned This WOE is all about learning about your body and habits. This isn't a crisis, it is a learning process and you learned something new. Now it is time to figure out what about it aused the binge and how to avoid that in the future.

Hey slow down!
Atkins is about making choices over a lifetime, not today or yesterday,
it is about every day. In that respect you have to see what it is that
makes you behave in a way where you would want to have a soda, the
one thing that we neglect to do is analyze our behavior, what makes us
eat. One of the strongest factors in binging is emotion-usually depression.
How and what were you feeling when you choose to drink a soda with
sugar in it? Not just a sip of a soda but the whole thing? And what were
you feeling when you moved on to chips? Whether or not you are eating
low carb binging is a common reason for being overweight.
When you spend a long time on Atkins you realize you might be someone
who can have an occasional thing with bread crumbs or small amount of
refined sugar in something. I think you got to figure you will never be
able to drink soda with sugar in it again, one can of soda can have
around 60 grams of sugar! Thats can, the smallest amount packaged
nowadays! No matter what that is never going to be good for you and
with so many diet sodas out there you can get past the soda with no
problem.
When you have a high carb day or binge realize that was one, and it wont
kill you unless you get to the point where it is more than once a month,
no one is perfect, but you got to rule out those high carb convinience
foods like chips, its one thing to try some amazing home made carb item like
fresh apple pie and leave it at one slice in a month, but going for something that
is so available like chips and soda is a killer.
You will get through this, it will be one day at a time and many days later but remember to ask yourself why when you get into a binge. Because often its because we feel crappy to begin with! When you address why you feel crappy and realize that food is not going to solve that you will win the battle!
Good things for you!

My good friend calls it "going back for more information." In this case it is sooooo true. You discovered that something in the pop is a trigger. Figure that out and you have made good use of this little, and I do mean little, detour.
