Default Is Low Carb Bread Okay?

I have been on Atkins since July. I found some low carb bagels that I really like. I have one every other day. My weight loss has diminished. Is it something about the bagel (only 2.5 carbs) that slows weight loss? It has lots of fiber. I was just wondering - I'm still staying under 20 carbs a day - but maybe bread - even low carb is not right for me. Any advice?

Weight loss goes down in time - bagels or not. If you are not on induction you could try low carb bread - just count the carbs.

As RC said, weight loss dimenishes as we go down. Just one suggestion, check the serving size. I found some great lc bagels and they said six servings and there were six bagels so I assumed that meant that each bagel was 2 carbs. But I read the fine print and found out that a serving was 1 oz and each bagel was 2.5 ozs. That meant that each bagel was more like 5 carbs. It's still acceptable, but it made me think and I don't have them so often.

The closer you get to goal, the slower it goes. Somepeople however, just can't tolerate grain products. That is one of the reasons it is one of the last things added back in in OWL. If you are really worried about them you might try cutting down on them to maybe once or twice a week for a little bit, or cut them out completely to test.

For variety you might try the LaTortilla's if you find that grains aren't a problem. You might also look at what your doing with the bagles. If it involves something high carb or extreamly high calorie being spread on top, that could be a problem instead of the bagle *starts pondering a bagle spread with cream cheese and smoked salmon and tries not to drool*

I discovered Nature's Own Wheat N Fiber bread which is low carb and I limit myself to 2 slices a week! My weight loss didn't change, but it has slowed down since I started OWL! I just needed some variety in the menu before I got bored. I figure this is longterm and I didn't get fat overnite so I won't get skinny overnight either!

Where do you buy your bagels and what's the name? I'd love to try them!!! Yummmy! Bagels and cream cheese sounds scrumptious!!

That's great help! I will cut down. For those of you who wanted to know - the bagels are Low Carb Emporium - 7 grain bagels. You can get them online - but shipping is a bear - so I drive to a low carb store.

Easier said than done to drive to a lowcarb store in Ohio, especially in southern Ohio where I live. Folks here are born with gravy in their veins! LOL!

California always has everything before the midwest and east coast. I lived in Thousand Oaks, CA (north of LA) back in the 80's and I was always able to get things long before my family back in Ohio!

I think I'll have to buy online, can't wait for Ohio to catch up!!! LOL!

Thanks anyway!
